We were coming out of a restaurant the other day and I swear Goldfingers son was walking in. He was wearing a black shirt with gold electricity looking lines, a stack of gold chains, watch and other gold jewelry and topped the ensemble off with shiny gold loafers

Agreed but I'll never forget the truck stunts in "Licence to Kill".

In the original books Bond is sexist, racist, and homophobic. That showed both the feelings of Fleming, and the generally accepted societal norms of the time, but those times were 60-70 years ago, and thankfully we've come a long way since then. The thought that a 'spy' in the 21st century would be offended, freaked out by, or affraid of a gay man is laughable. But, but, that's how it was in the books. Well in the books he was disgustingly racist, especially towards Koreans (Examples below). Would you expect that language in a film today? No, it would banned and rightly so. So, if the portrayal can move with the times on race, why can't it on sexual acceptance? No one has hinted he's gay, but he's not 'frightened of catching the gays' for being around a gay man.

Fleming on Koreans from Goldfinger.
-Goldfinger took the cat from under his arm and tossed it to the Korean who caught it eagerly – “I am tired of seeing this animal around. You may have it for dinner.” The Korean’s eyes gleamed.
-Bond intended to stay alive on his own terms. Those terms included putting Odd-Job or any other Korean firmly in place, which in Bond’s estimation was lower than apes in the mammalian hierarchy.
-They are the cruelest, most ruthless people in the world…When they want women, street women are brought down from London, well-remunerated for their services and sent back. The women are not much to look at, but they are white and that is all the Koreans ask – to submit the white race to the grossest indignities

I tried reading Goldfinger because I liked the movie so much. I only got about halfway through it before I quit. I don't think I got to the quotes you listed, but it seemed to me the movie was a lot better than the book not counting any politically incorrect things.

its weird that you substituted "politically incorrect" for "blatantly, openly, racist"

I agree Bond has to evolve with the times, it is a commercial necessity if nothing else. I think the whole backstory of Bond, his parents’ death, his military service, his loyalty to England and M, are all important and shouldn’t be lost. In my view, Bond should stay a little “old school” relative to today, by about as much as the original Bond was in 1955. He needs to be just anachronistic enough to preserve that distance between him and the average person.

There is certainly room for a female secret agent type. “Atomic Blonde” was a helluva movie and Charlize Theron was fantastic in it. That could have been a franchise, but I imagine Theron wasn’t into being locked in to movie after movie.
