Ha ha! Great simile. My wife has already found her project, but she would say she can relate.

Your comment about being a teenager is apt. We are all teenagers inside.
Vicki and I work at the local Council On Aging, which holds a dance every Thursday for men and women over 60. It is exactly like high school, with cliques that hang out together - an "in crowd" an "out crowd" and those in the middle. There is the cool girl who doesn't flirt but gets a lot of attention, the girls who do flirt, the guy who thinks he's cool, but everyone laughs at him behind his back (even though the flirty girls do go out with him now and then), and there is the guy who is really cool that everyone admires but the girls dare not approach (me). HA!

Good luck with Mr. Saturday Esq. Hope all goes well.

With your knowledge of car-culture, you must surely be the most popular person at any cars and coffee that you go to? I know you would be here in Portland.

If you weren't such a long drive away......

Men do not like women knowing about cars. Men want to tell women all they know about cars (be it right or wrong). My saying something intelligent will be dismissed or talked over. I'll most likely be seen as a know-it-all ***** as well.

My best approach is asking, "is that a hemi?" or, "how many carburetor does it have?" (Best if it has neither.) Guys eat that **** up.

Stolen from "X".

Desirable Changes Women Hope For:

• Stop sending random D’ pics.

• Differentiate kindness from flirting.

• Treat her with kindness, not aggression.

• Refrain from assuming ‘all woman’ are on their cycle.

• Keep restroom tidy; no surprise pee on the seat.

• Believing she is a ‘live in maid.’

• Stop believing romance is inferior.

• Replace catcalling with interaction.

• Stop threatening harm to her because she rejects you.

• Be honest about intentions; from the start.

• Stop bragging to the boys about sexual escapades.

• Stop undermining her emotions & value communication.

• Stop making everything a joke when it upsets her.

• We need more positivity in the presence of friends and family.

• Don't blame gender for her mistakes.

• Accept rejection gracefully, without damaging her reputation.

• Stop labeling yourself 'alpha' or 'sigma' male.

• Be the same person publicly and privately.

• Stop creating forums just to bash women.

• Ditch thirstiness and don't believe just because she is online she is a “thot.”

An odd observation. My wife and I met an absolutely lovely woman today on a walk at a local garden. She was the best looking 65 year old I have seen. Gorgeous. We talked for over an hour. She asked if we knew any similar aged single men. The only two my wife and I knew have issues. One is gay. The other is a drunk.

Any lonely dudes in the PNW?

Sadly...I see this as being true most of the time.

Those are not the men you want in your life.

Yes, I realize sometimes you have to make allowances in certain situations - I get it.

And I know you get it.

This is why I mentioned "confidence" as a positive trait for men to have (and ladies too because it goes both ways). Confidence is sexy.....those with fragile egos....eh...not so much.

FWIW, my last chick was pretty good with mechanical stuff and I never felt threatened by it. In fact, I admired her (and still do) for being so smart.

Like I said upstream.....there is a shortage of good men. Ones that are unattached that is.....

There was an article a few months back online somewhere about an island in Norway or Finland where the main profession is fishing and it's something ridiculous like 3-1 men. Those Scandinavian dudes can be some tall, good looking sons of biotches as well.

The comment section was priceless, all women. A couple I remember were, "Challenge accepted!" and, "Bend...and SNAP." :D

Thank you Baz. I apologize if I came off peevish.
And Thank you is what I should have originally said to Herr_Oberst.
So thank you Herr for the kind compliment.

Now tell me about your 914. Does 914 mean it's got 14 cylinders? ;)

Or they’ve figured out what a minefield it is and given up.

And with that comment you’ve dismissed an entire gender.
If I said all women were gold diggers what would your reaction be?

IMHO, you are a unicorn Dixie: sharp, creative, easy on the eyes, and a gearhead.

Not so. I'm a man so I'm and expert. I was driving my 356 coupe a couple of weeks ago and a woman stopped me and we chatted for 20 minutes. She and her husband did much of the work on John Dixon's collection. We had a great conversation.

I disagree. We have a single lady in our PCA region that is attractive, owns three Porsches. She drives at the autocross. One is a 911 SC outlaw with a 993 engine transplant. She knows cars, and loves to drive them. We all respect her, but most of the club is married men and we often include our wives in social events.

Guys that are secure love to have a woman that truly understands his love of cars with an equal love and understanding of cars.

Those aren’t the guys you want, anyway. Maybe use that as a litmus test if in that crowd.
