I'm into reading about the different pressings and which dead wax code to look for.
Another great site below.

I have CDs, but rarely listen to them. My wife and decided no more tv commercials, radio commercials, talk radio, or MSM. We gather news from different sources and watch Max, prime, Netflix, Tubi, and YouTube
+1 on vinyl. The sound quality is so much better than MP3 or CD.

Very True. MTV made many recording artists successful that would never get radio play. Well produced, costume changes and special affects were/are the focus. Talent, not so much.

The title of the thread is "I stopped buying music when Punk came out (this is about AI)"

I guess the analogy between radical changes in music and radical changes in all off the arts including writing is totally lost on you folks.

I hadn't considered reading to be an art, just an ability. But to read the meaning must be something more than just running your eyes across the screen.

I do realize I brought up a subject that is popular, but it wasn't the point. If you were to actually read through my posts on this thread I tried to return to the theme more than once.

I guess if you don't get it you don't get it. Moving on.

I have a bad case of midnight in my soul so I have been listening to the Blues since I was a teen. KKJZ every Sat/Sun afternoon.

The Blues are real; "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to live for".

The ratio in your original post is 20 parts music/entertainment and one part AI.

You indicated AI was the devil. You indicated that you can't tell if today's internet drivel is a bot or a person. That's it. Full stop.

Us folks are not all to blame.

That said, I hate listening to something on Youtube and the narrator pronounces something so poorly that you then know it is an application doing the talking. I immediately turn it off.

I'm afraid there will be more and better fake images/fake news that will cause confusion

It further submarines creativity for the masses (which sort of began with Nintendo/Sega).

I'm still going to use the internet.

I have not listened to radio broadcasts for 40 years. Cant stand commercials.

I could not care less if the movie I'm watching is partially or entirely AI. I'm only there to be entertained, what happened behind the scenes to make it is immaterial to me.

As a matter of fact, I would love to see AI be the undoing of our Hollywood "elite". I would love to see the day when society no longer puts big name actors and actresses on a pedestal, because there are no more actors and actresses. At least not on any kind of screen. I still love live plays and attend them often.

Where I would like to see the return of live humans is on the telephone. I absolutely hate getting some robovoice telling me to say something or press some number for something. I often spend more time navigating their damn menu than getting my questions answered. My son taught me a cool trick, though - just keep talking over the robovoice while it keeps saying "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that" and very shortly it will give up and patch you through to a live person. Which is what I wanted to begin with.

Maybe it was rap music that did you in? Both arrived about the same time in the mid 70s.

I guess I don’t understand why a singular genre would hold that much sway over everything else that is available.

As for radio, I haven’t listened to it post my employment at KISW in seattle. It was a huge turnoff to see behind the curtain at how things actually worked.

I did however recently learn we have a community radio station that serves maybe a two mile radius. They have some interesting programming and no commercials.

Thanks for the phone tip...I'll try it.
