Catheters & prostates don't get along. The more times they insert a catheter, the more it pisses off your prostate. I'm an expert. Can you urinate on your own? I ended up going home with a bag & antibiotics. Next week the Urologist filled me up with 100ml of saline & said "go". I emptied almost all of it. Been OK since. Good luck!

I hope you feel better soon. (At least your writing isn't suffering)

Kidney stones(ie calcium deposit) is supposedly helped with a dash of apple cider vinegar w/glass of water.
Maybe an old wives tale.

Hope you feel better with treatment. Now.

I can’t type a whole lot right now. Urinary system problems have been ruled out, but the surgeon came in and declared he knew what was wrong - strained muscles

Diverticulitis can cause the pain you describe. A CT scan would tell for sure.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery....

Patrick, that happened to me mid PT. I never knew muscles that make up your deltoid go all the way to the sternum via tendons or ligaments (IDK which is which). I pulled one in that group and I could push out, back and away, but I could not pull my arm to my chest.

Went to the doc and he said wait it out. "Oh, and BTW, as strong as you seem to be in 3 other directions, you don't no more stinkin' PT. Just let it heal and do your stretching that doesn't hurt."

I think the fact that he had my shoulder in motion within 24 hours and me being super diligent on home PT is what made the difference. Again, no direct use of the affected muscles that got moved or cut for at least 30 days. Good thing I didn't need a shoulder to stand up and walk.

Down there in the groin region is a tough place to get a strain. Hang in there.

add a bit of honey to make it more pleasant. This mix is also good for gas pains, but you will fart a lot.

How can he even tell? More rhetorical than a genuine question.

Keep us posted. Ouch. Sorry wd.

Has there been any imaging (CT or MRI, ultrasound etc)? This much pain must have a root cause.
We’ll say some prayers for you tonight.

I sure hope he right. That sounds like the mildest of possibilities.

Good luck!

The surgeon who did my back showed up this morning. He asked some questions and said he’d seen it before. When they do back surgery they put you on a table that secures you at the shoulders, ribs, and hips. You abdomen is free to extend below you to pull you internal organs away from your spine. The abdominal muscles are basically hyper extended. He said on long surgeries the abdominal muscles are strained to the point of damage, and I was on the table for 2 and a half hours. The other docs eliminated all the usual suspects, so I’m inclined to believe he’s right.
The treatment is rest and muscle relaxers. He’s going to see how I’m doing tomorrow and maybe put me in a nursing home for a week to rest.
Me - in a frkkin’ nursing home. Unbelievable.

Glad to hear it's not something more serious and potentially terminal. I imagine the muscle recovery will take a while though. Give it a rest. As for the nursing home, could be several of us might be posting from one of those places in the not too distant future. Everybody is getting up there.

They don’t have some sort of sling to support the abdominal muscles? This sounds like a known problem.

Don’t think of it as a nursing home - it’s a recovery facility. For you, anyway.

I also was not thrilled with being put in a nursing home for my knee replacement recovery.

But the time went fast... Get better!

Look at it as a learning experience. I did a month in one after rehab. It motivated me to arrange a financing program for in home care.
