For many of us here there's no reason to buy one of these new, ugly nanny-state monstrosities.

I'm keeping what I have- heck, post-retirement I may just go back to carbs. There is NO WAY I will buy a car that tracks my activities.

Oh and ya, I know about the cell phone, but I can throw that out the window.

Back in the mid 90s I had an '88 Ranger which was the last year that they came with a 2.0L (73hp). Mine had a 5spd. If I was on the interstate and a headwind gust hit, I usually downshifted from 5th to 4th to maintain my speed. LOL!

I'm never going to voluntarily add an OBDII plugin for the ins co or purchase a car that tracks me. I might speed from time to time...

My 04 Ranger 2WD with V6. It would cruise easily at 75 mph.
I used it with a tow dolly to haul my 911's when needed.

There are plenty of aftermarket FI kits. You will hate a carburetor. It is almost impossible to get one to idle when it is cold, and the hesitation as you hit the gas to pull out is scary. I put a throttle body FI system on my El Camino nearly 20 years ago. The single best upgrade I did to it.

Amazing what 10 years, two cylinders and I dunno how much displacement can help! (Mine is the 2.3l 4cyl bottom end model)

^^^ Your 4 cyl engine is more durable than mine was. I had to sell mine at a super low price because it developed the 'valve seat by-pass' at 140K miles. Ford issued a TSB, but wouldn't stand behind the cost. Both heads would have needed to be replaced. It was a 3 liter engine.

Only 117k on mine!!! Got it 3 years ago for $1500... have put about 1k more in for tires and some fixes/parts, and I need to go get a battery later today ... but still the best vehicle purchase I've made

27 years is a good run. Those Avalons are great cars.

My Prelude is eligible for a 'Collectors Plate' this year. $30 for a 10 year plate.
(if Ohio has the same law....his car is eligible also)

Speed limiter on my friend's tesla (model Y?). Won't go over 35 in a 30mph limit, but no limit on highway. IDK if that is a factory preset or if he set an option.
