And then there is Ocon....

wasn't sure where to put this. 1962 Monaco GP. The film quality is astounding. The story with Burl Ives a bit dopey, but here is racing in the '60's

I did not watch the entire film when I put it up. Going to take back my comment. This is a pretty well done video from the day. Gives the flavor of the "real" racing where gentlemen racers were the drivers. It amazes me how close spectators could get and the lack of barriers along the water. Anyway, hope some of you enjoy it

I enjoyed it.. I love that we live in an age where stuff like this has a portal. When I was 10 or 12 or 18 or 20, I would have loved to have been able to access content like this, but the only option as a kid from a small town who was car-mad was magazines or occasionally a grainy, chopped up, watered down version on The Wide World of Sports (in between Curling and Professional Rodeo.)

So, thank you for posting.

Guess I'm a bit of contrarian but F1TV showed some really good second-by-second replays, and I'm not slamming any of the folks everyone blamed for the accidents.

IMO Perez could have given a little room to Kmag, he had a full car width to his left - sure it's not the preferred line but given that we had a Haas in each mirror he could have gone more middle of the track to block both and not closed that door so much on Kmag...

Ocon? Well maybe that's controversial but on the really slow replay, Gasly gets balked by the williams and leaves a giant hole inside - Ocon goes for it, is ahead of Gasly at the apex by a wheel, and inside. Game over, he won.... almost done. Gasly is sort of pinched outside, sure, but he is now slightly behind and outside, he could have a) slowed, b)come a bit closer to the barrier which he did not. I suspect there was an element of FU at play there also, not wanting to be passed by his team mate. If this had been a move on anyone other than his team mate people would have applauded... People have passed here in the same situation before, many times.

Either way delighted for Charles. I bet this reboots Leclerc - and with Lando and Piastri firing on all cylinders and Newey on gardening leave, there's hope for this season yet.

Give it to YouTube. Once you see one video they find others. This is a pretty good video of the '61 Spa race. I have not been there but I am thinking LeSource turn does not look like this today.

Enjoy some classic racing with a bit of Porsche F1 included

You got curling And rodeo? Old man MacKay usually introduced 5 min of Monaco and then bloody ice skating, or worse, in the mid 70s on the west Coast.

Not much different than ESPN of today. They chop off the F1 coverage right after the awards ceremony and go to some riveting "sport" like cornhole! Now they have, I kid you not "professional pillow fighting." One time they shut of F1 coverage to show a basketball game from the 1970s! Even when the race is in the USA coverage is middle of the night, they shut off coverage right after the awards.

If you're an F1 fan, a subscription to F1 TV is a small price to pay considering you get everything including F2 and F3 content. And access is available anywhere in the world if you're traveling.

Perez was re-signed at Red Bull... Why ?
The guy has the second biggest gap to his team mate on the grid after Sargeant. There's a bigger average gap between PER-VER than between Alonso and Stroll for Pete's sake ! He scored only 50% as many points as Max last year with the same "best car". He's always "fighting back" from 6 or 10th or whatever. Any other choice would have been at least "interesting" to challenge Verstappen... Then again I want other teams to beat RB so maybe I should be happy. He's got a contract so he can relax and qualify 11th till the end of the year again (watch him win canada now that I said that). Yawn.

Maybe they don't want the #2 challenging the #1?

Plus, doesn't he bring something like $30 mil/year in sponsorship money? And I read somewhere that RBR sells close to 70% of their merch in Mexico.

1.Perez brings sponsorship $$$ to the team .
2.He has shown solid results but not consistency.
3.The team needs stability due to the Horner issue .
4.He takes orders well , he is a team player .

Did you guys see the 2026 rules ?
Slightly smaller, slightly lighter cars, no more DRS but active Aero (always on) for all for low drag on straights, no specific DRS zones either, and the stuff we knew already - no more heat recovery (all kinetic), bigger KERS less ICE, stronger halo...

Should be alright..

This article implies that Carlos has signed a contract for 2025 to race for Williams .

Pretty much everything you don't need for exciting racing.
