Well we changed the world…

WCMA has made a rule change and 14 year olds are now eligible for a WCMA race license. I heard that after Clay’s first race they were impressed with his ability and were considering the change.

It only cost me $7000 (to get his SCCA license) to make this happen but it did got my son in the seat of a race car 1 - 2 years early so still a win. And that $7000 was money well spent because it made him an even better driver and helped him get used to miata dynamics vs. kart dynamics.

So yah, if you want to race in SCCA or WCMA, you may well be racing against a 14 year old, like it or not.

Congrats but why did you want to get into Miatas instead of racing go karts a few more years?

Awesome! Congrats on the win, and yeah, I'm sure there will be podium time in Clay's future.

My absolute favourite type of racing is endurance racing. I’ve been doing it since 2010 and have raced at numerous tracks. I have done some kart endurance racing but can’t do this with my son.

Car endurance racing is a team event and as of this summer, I have a new co-driver.

Unclebilly, try not to be too embarrassed when his lap times turn out to be faster/more consistent than yours.
Kids will do that to you.

Best

Yah - he did that to me in karting a few years ago… I’m still faster in the car… for now.
