https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11283531/Alec-Baldwin-Rust-producers-CONTINUE-filming-January-2023.html

"Alec Baldwin will continue filming Rust in January after reaching a confidential civil settlement with slain cinematographer Halyna Hutchins' husband.

Matthew Hutchins will now serve as executive producer during the revival of the western film and said that he, the producers, and Baldwin all agreed that his wife's death was a 'terrible accident.' ...

Matthew Hutchins said today: 'We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed. ..."

Baldwin in buying his way out of his guilty actions.
Notice that "Matthew Hutchins will now serve as executive producer" - or in other words, beside the big payoff, Hutchins is given an honorary title with a big salary to bump up the bribe/hush money to not sue. If others are paid off to keep quiet this may weaken a criminal charge as well.
I hope this cause people to refuse to see the movie and that is becomes a money loser to Baldwin.

That's weird, no? The widower is now the exec producer? Wouldn't most of us have such animosity towards Baldwin and the entire production that we'd never want to have any future association with it?

Valid questions! Add to that, who in their right minds would give that cast and crew guns to work with again? (snicker) What's the insurance rate look like now? ...

Or, he has attained control over the film and can make whatever statement he wants with it.

Once it becomes clear Baldwin will not benefit in any way from the film, it could become a ground-breaking, blockbuster, mega-hit, feature-length propaganda reality film.

Hollywood protects its own. Amazing...if you’re far left of center you can shoot someone in front of several witnesses and go on about your silver spoon lifestyle.

He will be the Executive Producer which means he gets into The Producer's Guild with access to health, pension and all the other benefits that go with it.

Also, producer credits are a way to "grease the palms" of actors, writers, directors, etc. Ever wonder why it takes 5 minutes of a shows opening to run the producer credits? Even a first season drama will have 8-12 producers. If you were a writer on a hit show and have nothing currently in the works, they'll give you a producer credit on one of their shows just to keep you in their "stable" until you come up with another creative idea.

Nice to not to have to show up and make $20-40k an episode for a 22 episode season.

what a disgrace to sell out over your wifes death like that.

i wouldnt be surprised to see the 2 of them come up with some way to way more insurance money out of it.

a guy broke his leg at a friends house.
they some how got enough money out of the insurance deal to open a liquor store.
this was over 20yrs ago. the liquor store is huge now.

"Alec Baldwin denies rumors that he fired missile into Poland

Los Angeles, CA - Following multiple reports that a missile had been fired into Nato member state Poland, actor Alec Baldwin categorically denied the rumors that he was the one who pulled the trigger. “Look, I know I have a history of firearms misuse on set, but that Poland business has nothing to do with me.”*

The Hollywood Foreign Press was quick to defend the actor against reports that he had mishandled a missile launcher prior to the incident that killed two Polish citizens. “I want to emphasize that Mr. Baldwin in no way thought that the controls for the missile launcher were a toy,” said the spokesperson for the film Baldwin was working on.*

Baldwin was seen dawning a disguise with fake glasses and a mustache before returning to his trailer after his press conference. “This is just my… going out to lunch disguise - I mean, I’ll be right back,” said the Hollywood celebrity before slipping into his trailer."

I think this was his only choice from a legal standpoint.

Yes, he pulled the trigger, killed somebody and wounded another.

But, from a criminal perspective and especially with a jury trial, which he will demand, he will argue somebody else’s gross negligence, incompetence and/or quite probable malice, and under whose professional purview was firearm safety on set, was the direct cause of such a grievous, horrible and totally preventable harm due to a momentary lapse in firearm safety which is completely reasonable under the circumstances. Said firearm safety being specifically the professional duty of numerous employees on site and to whom most reasonable people would lay blame for this calamity.

Well said. Yea, he pulled the trigger. Revolvers don't just go off any other way when held in the hand.

And yep, his crew that he hired was 100% incompetent. There should never be a live round in the area, much less on set. Whoever handed the gun to an actor is 100% liable for the death. His job at the time is pretend to be a killer, not actually be one.
