Except it wasn't done that way on this set in this particular instance. Which was Baldwin's call, not Guiterez-Reed's. Quote:
Except in this case Baldwin insisted that he have access as well. All of that adds up to the fact that Baldwin was responsible to check that gun, on that set at that moment. And he didn't. That remains 100% on him, as the man who neglected to follow accepted industry safety protocols. When he brushed those aside, he became like any other person in possession of a firearm - solely, 100% responsible for whatever happens with it. He was handling that gun as if he were not on a movie set, following "your" rules. As such, he cannot hide behind those rules. He becomes like anyone else handling a gun, responsible to follow generally accepted gun safety protocols. That includes checking to see if it is loaded, since he did not watch the Armorer do that, under your rules.

I think the bottom line here is that the Armorer recklessly failed at her one job.
No way should any real ammo be near a movie set where it could be mistaken for a blank, and a prop gun should never be allowed to be played around with outside of the movie set EVER. All weapons should be secured at all times and they were not. I feel that Alec Baldwin bears some responsibility in this as well as the Armorer after all he was not only the one who pulled the trigger but it was his movie and he was in charge of things there or was supposed to be, this happened on his watch. Question, why don't they make prop guns with a bore slightly smaller so that a real round would not fit in the chamber? The blanks could be made to fit only in a prop gun, that way this could not happen again. Is this a thing already? Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

The answer to this was mentioned not too long ago in the thread.
Alex Baldwin, the producer, was emotionally involved on making this movie happen despite not having enough budget to do it properoply. Spending the money on safety by having dummy guns was proposed and rejected on costs. Which is why I consider that AB's share in this should be equal to or greater than the armorer. He was top officer on the site, and was making this and other decisions that compromised safeguards. To the point that most below the line crew walked out of working on the movie just before this happened. The armorer was not on site, she did not secure the guns before leaving, that is on her. Producer Alex Baldin decided gunplay with unsecured guns while the armorer was not on site was ok, that is on him.

Maybe while she's in jail/prison she will lose the attitude and realize her part in this tragedy .

18 whole months, for causing the death of someone.
And yet, people walking around the Capitol taking selfies on January 6 are getting three times that. |

She said the accusations and negative publicity during the trial was detrimental to her future employment as an Armorer and her modeling career. Go figure.

She’ll be popular on “mug shawtys”.
Interesting that her lack of remorse and blame game from the jail house calls was the deciding factor from probation to jail time.

I'm not so sure the modeling career had much air in it. In fact, she might be more in demand now for Negligent Homicide and Irresponsible Skank magazines.

What a travesty of "justice".
"The machine" has ran her over, chewed her up, and spit her out. She did not point that gun at anyone, Alec Baldwin did. She did not cock that hammer, Alec Baldwin did. She did not pull that trigger, Alec Baldwin did. She did not even hand that gun to Alec Baldwin, David Halls did. She was not even on the set when this happened, she was away at lunch. There were two other people, at least, who had handled that gun before Alec Baldwin killed Halyna Hutchins with it.

My thoughts are a movie set Armourer is the same as a gun club Range Officer. The final word on rules and any issues. No excuses, no negotiating and always there when required. She was beyond lax.
Also those remarks she made about the jurors and the judge sure didn't help her. |

She's lucky. Could have been worse.

If she really said, as the judge quoted that she didn't check the rounds she loaded into the gun, then yeah, 18 months is short.
Her lack of remorse is what pissed off the judge, and I don't blame the judge.

Absolute negligence on her part, but I think she recieved the maximum sentence ... should have been more imo.
That being said, I've known folks who were negligent, directly causing a death due to their action, yet it was "swept under the rug" .... happens a lot unfortunately ![]() |

Next Alex and this guilty verdict and sentence won't be good for him.
