A sweep in the Cup final may be great for the victors but it sux for fans such as me. The Oilers may be able to avoid the sweep and history supports that possibility but methinks that rather large lady in the wings is warming up her voice.

Brooms at the ready - mayhap??? Everything seemed OK until mid second period when the wheels came off - 6 mins & change of "oh schidt, not again" for Skinner, Nurse, & Ceci. You're right Flat - if not on Saturday, definitely on Tues. for the "rather large lady" to be warming up her pipes.

The Cats have shut down all the oppositions' big gunners in every series so far in their playoff run - they'll be the deserving champs.

The quote of the night was when the announcer said that the Oiler players were sitting on the bench looked like they were watching a movie. No emotion just staring out into space.

It is my opinion that when a team is down 3-0 games, the next game they will win by running on pure adrenaline. After that game, they crash and burn.

yup. They sure looked like a defeated team in that game even though it was the closest tally of the three. Choose your favorite jelly, they're toast.

I am sure the Oilers will come out with enthusiasm and play hard . But if they don't have success in the first period they will start to press and make mistakes . The reality is they may be golfing after tonight .

I think I will skip the rest of the series and join the Leafs on the golf course.

To echo Joe's & Flat's thoughts, the "earlers" may pull it off tonight but it ain't goin' more than 5. They'll most assuredly be booking tee times come Wed. morning.

I kinda feel for McDavid who's been through some 'crappy-a$$ed' times (≈ 9 yrs.) with this team only to come up short. He may be well advised to take a leaf out of Ray Bourque's book to have a future or legitimate/realistic shot at the cup.

I just hope tonight's game isn't a blow-out.

Bourque didn't win the cup with the Bruins but he will always be a Bruin in our hearts.

I have a game worn signed jersey of his hanging in my home (yes, my wife loves me very much). It was a gift from a friend who was a rabid B's fan like me. He died in his mid 40's. His wife said he wanted me to have it (and he has family in Boston!)

Yeah 8-1 is not what I had even thought possible. Their victory is what we figured would occur. Somehow the prospect of being swept really lights a fire.

In all seriousness - that was just a thought from a neighbour who hates the 'oinklers'. I have to add he's a bit of a "conspiracy theory" devotee. I also must admit, it did have the tiniest bit of credence - after my 8th beer on game night.

Not no how not no way. One may wish to diddle with the World Series or some other such but not The Cup.

You don't give your opponent any opening or opportunity to stage a miracle. You grab it with both hands when it is yours to take.

The shame of being swept in the Cup final is a powerful motivator but that was way out of the usual.
