Bear Eats Ducks at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle

Kind of sad that these poor ducks somehow found their way into the brown bear enclosure at our local zoo. Even worse, there was a little kid's birthday party crowd with a front row seat to the whole thing.

Yeah, "nature happens", but this is maybe just a bit too young to be exposed to this. The ducklings obviously cannot fly yet, so they were hatched somewhere close by. How the zoo staff didn't see them before this happened is the question of the day...

Everyone knew what was about to go down. There was plenty of time to kids away if they were concerned about how the kids would react.

It is the circle of life. The kids just learned about it a little earlier. Imagine if a human fell into the alligator pit or the bear exhibit.

This happens 100s of times every day this time of year. Animals such as ducks have many more babies for this exact reason. If this wasn’t the case, the duck population would be exploding…

The fact that is happened at a zoo with wild animals doesn’t make it any different than when it happens in the wild.

Society has become such a 5hit show. Instead of using this as a teaching / learning opportunity for those kids, we get all worked up about ‘feelings’ because in this day and age feelings are more important than reality. There I said it.

Probably, but not before someone got bitten or killed. I don't think zoos have staff roaming with rifles.
