Didn't take long for mods to begin . I ordered some vent visors , I think the dark smoke color will look good against the white paint and tinted windows . I like being able to keep the windows open slightly regardless of weather conditions . I have them on my dually and the wife's Volvo .

While you have it on the lift, look for 3 plastic plugs in the inner rocker. Pop them out and spray a coating of cavity wax. It will save your truck from a rust problem. If you dont it will start to rust there. Once it starts it travels fast.

Appreciate the tip . I have a few cans of Fluid Film that should do the trick .

I may have found a truck cap . On FB Marketplace less than an hour away . Fiberglass low profile in great shape . Only downside is it's light grey in color vs white . But that can be solved . Going tomorrow to see it , if it fits I am buying it as it is priced low . I will take some large C clamps and some small wood working clamps to secure it for the ride home .

My nephew has a 95 s10 with 383 stroker boy it's and animal not really fun to drive as you can barely touch the gas without spinning the tires.

I've had a Chevy truck of one sort or another since 1965. I had one cab level cap and I hated crawling into the bed. The last 2 have had hard tonneau covers that lifted up or flipped back towards the cab for full access.

I know you have the dually for large items. Still, you're going to be on your hands and knees. BTDT.

Milt you are correct , however a hard tonneau cover won't allow our shepherd mix to ride along . That is the main reason for a cap . The S10 is a hot rod that allows me to do simple runs to the recycling center . Or to the bank . Or grocery store . Occasionally a run to pick up a few 2x's . So the hands and knees crawling is not a major concern .

The cap I am going to look at today has the profile I want for the truck . If it fits correctly the asking price of $120.00 is a no brainer .

$120 is a deal. Its hard to find an S10 shell around here. I got mine for free because it looked bad. I spent $100 on paint and sold it for $260 after I decided I didnt really need it.

A late model S10 like my 98 has a slight slope at the back of the cab . And caps made to fit also have that slope at the front . Based on the pics in the sellers ad this is a S10 specific cap . Not the easiest to find at a reasonable price .

If it fits correctly it's a done deal and I will bring it home today . If it doesn't fit correctly then I will pass . In a perfect world I could find a white one so I can skip having to paint it .

It doesn’t take a whole lot of torque to spin the tires on a light, empty PU truck. I would think that the quest for traction would be the flaw of one of these things.

That shell sounds like a no-brainer at that price! Plenty of budget left for painting.

Someone else beat me to the cap 😒 . I waited to hear from the dude when he would be home from work . Then he texts me saying someone was in route to his house . Oh well it wasn't meant to be . Maybe I can find a white one .

This. ^^^

Anything that is a genuine deal on CL or FB sells quickly. You snooze, you lose.

Yes, I had one; briefly. It was geared so low, the engine was screaming on the highway. Had enough torque to climb a telephone pole......I bought it flip. Was fun, but not out on the oepn road.

So I am getting used to driving this little hot rod , she sure is different than the Porsche's . Sedate and easy going when light on the throttle to fire breathing beast with heavy throttle application . I added some window vent visors and some black diamond plate looking Husky floor liners . Today went and looked at a bed cap but it didn't fit well and didn't have the look I want . Still looking

Do you like the floor liners ? I just have regular floor mats and the static shocks the heck out of me in the winter time.

^^^ Yes I like these floor liners . They are fairly stiff so I put them in the sun for 30 minutes before installing . The S10 has some odd shapes and elevation to the floors and these fit great . The black diamond plate pattern goes well with my dark gray interior . The bottom has raised nibs that grip into the carpet . Purchased from Amazon they were reasonably priced .

Found another camper shell on FM and negotiated a price last night . Heading out this morning to hopefully complete the deal . Supposedly a S10 specific cap , it's fiberglass in need of paint . All glass in place with slider windows on both sides . He had it on a 2001 so same 2nd Gen body style . Based on pics this is a cab roof height cap which is the style I want for this little hot rod .
