Well even though it's our anniversary I snuck in some work this morning . I would say 90 % + of the clearcoat on the roof was gone , nice prep work Leer 😕 . The remaining clearcoat was on there good so some quick work with a DA sander feathered what was left . I hit the sanded areas with some rattle can primer to be safe .
I will eventually wet sand the entire top but for now the exterior roof is done . I have 3 gouges on the leading edge of the cap , that will be the next task . Some filler should easily do that job . After that removal of the windows so I can finish sanding the exterior . After that flip it over and thoroughly clean the interior . Then a couple coats of white to brighten up the interior . Once that's done it's time to paint the exterior . Still haven't decided if I DIY or take to a pro . I will check with a local guy I have used in the past to see what he will charge . The hold down clamps and bed to cap weatherstripping is arriving today . So overall everything moving along nicely . |

Seeing the work you did on your Boston Whaler boat project, this is going to look great when done.

. The interior has the standard semi finished fiberglass gel coat so will be easy to brush/roll the white paint . The exterior we shall see . I have no paint booth and it is HOT and HUMID in Georgia now so not sure I have the skill set to pull it off . The truck is so nice and clean I can't live with a crappy looking cap . We shall see as I have a ways to go to be ready .

Update: yesterday I completed the repair of the chips/gouges on the leading edge of the cap . A quick shot of rattle can primer it looks good . Also at the end of the day yesterday the Husky custom molded mud flaps were delivered so that was this mornings task .
Put her on the lift and removed the wheels . I must say the Husky mud flaps were $$$ but the fit is perfect . They follow the body lines like they are OEM . Very happy with them . This is the first time I have had it on the lift . Front pads/rotors look brand new . Where the front cross member was notched they did a very clean professional job of boxing it in . Very solid . Someone installed an aftermarket transmission cooler that was a nice surprise . The front sway bar measured 1.290 - 1.300 and the rear is .900 - .910 , I measured with calipers right next to the bushings . Overall condition of everything underneath is solid and clean . I did find the three large plastic plugs in the rockers and next time I have her in the air I will pull them and shoot Fluid Film in the cavities . A Fram oil filter is installed so a oil/filter change will happen soon I have never been a fan of Fram . Will probably go with AC Delco or Wix . I couldn't find a name brand on the mufflers but there are stamped part numbers on them . I have no plans to replace them but will try to find out what they are . Plus get tailpipes installed to replace the turn downs . That's it for now

You're welcome
. If my dad ( RIP ) knew I spent $90.00 on mud flaps he would smack me on the back of my head . But you only live once and they do look good .

Believe it or not I think both of my Porsche's and the S10 take the same oil filter . The Porsche's both have the IMS Solution installed which use a Wix 51348 filter . I will double check to make sure .

Ok now I am confused
. I thought the seller said the engine was out of a 2005 Silverado . A 2005 takes an AC Delco PF46 oil filter . When I cross matched the Fram PH10060 that is currently on the engine it takes an AC Delco PF48 . The PF48 has 22mm x 1.5mm threads . It looks like 2007 Silverados and up use the PF48 .So how do I find out what vintage engine I have ? The seller has ghosted me so he's no help . I do know he said it's a Gen3 iron block but what years does that cover ? I know it doesn't have cylinder deactivation . For future parts ordering I would like to know what year engine I have . Any GM experts out there ?

Try the link below. Truth is, the difference in the LS motors are minor and most parts can be interchanged.

Not sure as I really haven't looked in detail . I do see a casting mark on the passenger side at the front right under the aluminum head . It has a design stamp that kind of looks like a star and then 2 or 3 numbers .

The oil filter on the LS family of engines attaches to the oil pan, not the block. Run the part number on the oil pan.

I was suggesting the casting number in the oil pan could be googled to identify what engine it came on to figure out the correct oil filter. Look below the oil level sensor.
That being said, not all gen 3 LS have cable throttles. 2004 and newer Silverados used drive by wire. You can mix and match quite a bit as long as the reluctor wheel on the crank is the same. Earlier LS have 24 teeth and later have 58 teeth. My LS3 crate engine for my Camaro came with the PF48 oil filter on it. If that filter screws on to your oil pan I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t work just fine. |
