Yeah, that's not as pretty as a Singer. Not that I could afford either one. So I (and pretty much the vast majority of the crowd here on PPOT) probably aren't looking at this kind of car for its investment potential. Other than Wayne and Tabs, none of us is parking retirement savings in automobiles. Ka-chow! (That's his catch phrase.)

These days, I appreciate it for the masterpiece of engineering it was at the time, but aesthetically, not so much (maybe it's better in person, but I've never seen one in person). The Kalmar from the OP, is a better looking version possibly (I'd have to see one of each in person to know for sure). I like the Singer and Gunther Werks and Ruf cars better, at least, aesthetically.

In my limited experience (have only seen a handful of 959s), the car looks a lot better in person. Wider. Sleeker. It has a bit of gravitas. Maybe not Vector or Countach gravitas, but there is a presence that's lacking in photos IMO.

I didn't understand that market even existed before Singer... Now I realize how many truly rich people are out there... Personally I'd get the 911K from Tuthill. That engine !!!

Yet another 911 that is crazy expensive. based on a 993, so lots of power and modern amenities, just styled to look like a early 911.

Fun Leno episode...350 horsepower in 2600 pounds? Quite adequate for street driving...
Yep, financially as much a fantasy as others, but I do like the car. The no rear spoiler look is great. I mean, how often does anyone drive over 130 or so on public roads anyway?

Maybe so, but to my eyes, the 911 looks much "cleaner" without one...

I agree. The tails look fine on a wide body Turbo, but out of place on a regular G body 911 in my opinion. That is why mine will never have a tail as long as I own it. YMMV.

Mine will never have a tail too.
Also Frank's M491 looks amazing without a tail. |

Forget the aero dodads and other embellishments. It is about the motor

I think Tuthill sells just the heads (which is what allows it their motors to rev to the moon) for something like $40K. So theoretically, you could just build/commission a Tuthill motor and bolt it into your own 911 (or even a Singer!).

I saw a new ferrari 296 something something in traffic this morning and thought it looked pretty cool. My heart was warm to it at least. Looked a lot better looking down on it from our prius than any snaps ive seen.
![]() I think the last ferrari i liked was the f40. Cant understand why someone would pay so much for a modern lookalike when you could have something actually modern. |

Here's the only image I could find from the Kalmar debut at the Quail. The manufacturer also makes a more classic 911 retro style as well. The 9x9 may too wild looking for purists. I still need to see it in person.
