My memories don't have snow fences. I'm from the South.

What we had was juke joints, NASCAR, big hair, and mini skirts. It was a time when the police would let you go if they liked you, drunk driving was considered no big deal, and blue laws meant you could buy toilet paper, but not paper towels, on Sunday.

Unfortunately it was a time when racism still reigned, sexual harassment was de rigueur, women couldn't open a checking account, and being gay meant you could get killed.

Ironically, married men took their mistress to the gay bar. No one was going to say they saw you there, without having to explain what they were doing there.

First, bring back the girls who did what it took to look good in mini skirts.

I fondly remember my high school days, and coeds wearing mini skirts. 17 and 18 your old ladies in short skirts. At our school, the dress code said a hemline had to come at least down to be even with their thumbs. .

Now stand up, and relax your arms to your sides. See where your thumbs are. Now imagine that as the hemline on on an attractive 17 year old classmate. Phew, that is short.

I have had only one crash in my life where I rear ended someone. One of the prettiest girls was walking in front of the school, on a slightly windy day. Due only to raging hormones I was watching her an not the crazy old man that stopped at the red light for some unknown reason. I almost stopped in time but my 60 model VW bug had a dented in hood. I did learn to always watch traffic after that and I missed a few roadside attractions.

As a freshman in HS, I rode the school bus with an attractive blonde senior that lived a couple miles from me. Every morning she relied on me to save the seat next to the window while she would shimmy out of her long skirt and go to school in her mini-skirt. On the trip home, she did the reverse.
Her mother never found out.
I never forgot.

When I stated driving, traffic signs still had reflectors. Elvis was king, and it would be years before anybody heard the Beatles. I'd cruise the gut with my buddies, we thinking cars would get better...and for more than a decade, they did.

I’m OK with the girls wearing mini skirts, but I like them with five fingers, including the thumb. 😂

Something I remember from the 1960's was driving in the States and I believe it was in Michigan. I was driving my 58 Beetle in winter and felt every expansion joint on the main highways there. About thirty yards. I would think blacktop paving would have solved that.....

Are you trying to say that Bryon's memories of those days might be a bit distorted with time?

How about the stacks of rolled-up wood snow fences that were posted up on the west side of north/south roads. (snow-belt only)
The County Workers would unroll them and post them up each fall and do the opposite in the spring.
Don't see this done anymore....at least not around here.
