When I worked in DC, there were a lot of Cayennes in DC and Northern VA. If I were in the market for one (for about $20K), I would consider this (link below) a contender. I really like the colors and it is hard to find an interior that is not black (nice and cool). I would think anything with less than 100K is fairly low mileage for a 10-year-old car and the Turbo V8s seem pretty bulletproof.

I’ve posted my experience with them before. We’ve had 4, still have 3.
The 04-06 are the best quality but getting long on the tooth. My 06 Cayenne turbo s is possibly my favourite all time vehicle but it’s broken right now. My wife’s 2011 Cayenne s has been rock solid and reliable and is nice to drive with 400 hp on tap. She complains that everything else is gutless now. Her 06 turbo was pretty sweet too. Get one with higher mileage and hope you don’t have bore score issues. 08 seems to have been the worst year for this.

Not to muddy the waters but the Macan is a fine SUV also . Smaller but more nimble , backseat is a little snug but doable .

I love Muddy Waters ... a local guy used to play in his band back when...
But hear me now .... I will dispronounce my ride ... southern style.... Porsh Macon ... now on the radar .... yeah rhymes with bacon ![]() Smaller is mo' better for getting up close to entrances in tight parking lots, etc. Thanks all! |

I do think I've been seeing bacon instead of peppers now... but they might be "too low"... I dunno? I've got to drive one (I know I'll like it) and see if it will be good for parents too.
First real casual search .... I might get picky and print mo' money ... turbo ![]() Thanks! |

A Macan is a better vehicle for older people, especially women. Smaller and easier to place the corners.

Like Shaun, I too was/am fan of the 957 GTS, but when I started to go into the nitty gritty details, I opted for the 958 GTS instead.
Having owned a 955 Turbo and a pair of 996s, this one has been my favorite Porsche. Just does so many things so well.

Also very reasonably priced, if you don’t need a big back seat the Macan is definitely worth a look. My daughter has a GLK350 that has been flawless but is getting up in miles, I’m going to buy her a Macan next year before she heads off to college in Oklahoma.

Is that an S or base model? I have only driven a base model, power was adequate but it’s your typical four cylinder turbo. Noticeable lag off of the line, and needs a good downshift to pass on the highway. Once it spools up it moves decently. Personally I’ll probably buy an S for my daughter because they aren’t much more money, but I still need to drive one. Otherwise the ride and handling is typical well composed Porsche, and I really like the interior. When I was still driving between Wichita and DFW weekly I was considering one as a daily.

It’s either a turbo 4 or turbo V6, that’s all they offered in the Macan.
