^^^ Great job by AO!

With 3 LM wins in a row and 4 2025 WEC wins in a row, the FIA made a subtle modification to the WEC logo ....

At least Kubica was in the winning Ferrari. I missed the last few hours so I don’t know what happened to the 50 and 51.

Thrilled for AO Racing!

Phew, a tough day of TV.

Motortrend TV broadcast all 24 hours. They just interrupted the broadcast at random times to insert commercials. I recorded it all on my DVR, and fast forwarded the commercials, the safety car and full course yellows. They used the European announcers so it may well have been the official feed. No interviews with people in pit lane, just the race.

I am just now getting ready to finish the day with the F1 race.

They both had warning from the pits to NOT push, as the engines were close to parts being left on the track. The 963 managed to sneak in and get a podium.

OK, thanks to the BOP allowing a return of Ferrari and a 50y anniversary win on the centennial, and we now have 3 wins in a row, which is good for Ferrari, the publications and book sales... Can we please equalize this a bit now? 10 kph top speed difference between hypercars is a joke..

As one of the porsche drivers was saying in a resigned voice, the Ferrari drivers made so many mistakes there was no way they should have won that but the car is so much faster they get away with it...

Turns out Bourdais was right, no chance for anyone else... The winning Ferrari literally did it with one hand ;-) Joke aside I am happy for Kubica, woulda coulda shoulda, at least he got that on his CV now..

Odd to see 24h there with no rain - good GT3 race...

One thing the European announcers said sounds interesting. Ford is planning a Hypercar entry for 2027. That could be interesting. Lots of big name manufacturers all fighting in a top class car.

A missing bolt and max rear wing deflection measured >3x the limit.

The Iron Dames team has announced they will skip Watkins Glen due to injury to one of their drivers . They were able to find a fill in driver for LeMans . You mean to tell me there isn't a qualified female driver to step in for Watkins Glen ? Not one ??? Seems odd does it not ?

Same thought here. They can't find a 3rd driver? Sounds like Michelle Gatting is maybe providing the funding and without her that funding is not there??

I was at the Watkins Glen 6-Hour in 1980 - 45 years ago :eek: Lancia brought 3 factory cars along with some F1 drivers (Michele Alboreto, Ricardo Patrese and Eddie Cheever) and won the race over about a dozen 935s and others. The Can-Am and Trans-Am races were on Saturday. One of the best events I've been to.

Thats fantastic Curt! Such sights and sounds.

I saw 935s race in the day, but I never recall seeing Lancias.

URY914 06-19-2025 07:43 AM

Curt, I was at the Daytona 24 hour in 1981 when the Lanicas were there.

Scanned from a print..........

^^ Very cool Paul! :)

As cool as that era was, when we think back, it was completely dominated by Porsche 935s. The Lancias were competitive for sure but there weren't many of them. So what is better: a more open formula like Group 5 where one manufacturer dominates or a BoP like today with numerous manufacturers. I'm not sure to be honest.

I'm pretty sure 'Sun System' was one of the Whittington Bros scam/money laundering businesses!
