I'd like to think I could try to relax, but I might be screaming louder than the jet engines.
RIP to the victims.

It seems awful... but in reality none of us is getting out alive. As options go, having less than a minute to stress over my demise seems optimum. I sat next to my dad for almost 2 weeks waiting for his lungs to fill with enough liquid to drown him... I don't stress about airborne emergencies anymore.

I hear what you're saying. I'm sure if my dad had had his druthers, he woulda' preferred to auger-in in his T-craft than slip away drop by drop in a nursing home after suffering a stroke.
(Problem is, the Taylorcraft is just a lightweight kite with a huge wing and a fella might not even get hurt, ha ha!) Dark humor!

They have the fdr. 8! ft underground. In good shape. We'll have a rough idea shortly.
Byron, thanks for all that you and your brothers do.

I flew the Lear 60 for a while, its definately a hot ship, and immediately after rotation and positive rate, as the gear is cycling you have to pull way off on the power if you have any departure altitude or speed restriction. Juan has a good vid on it, im not sure about the lights though as the landing lights are on the Gear, i did not remember the recog light in the upper vertical being that bright, so a O2 bottle explosion that took out the Pitch control seems plausible. Hard to say if Spacial D came into it, i had one instance where my PFD went black and lost power, luckily we were at cruise, if the screens went out, then yes definately a possiblity if one is not able to shift focus to the Stby attitude indicator, but all sim events train at least one approach on only the Stby. Its a tough one, and only time will show some leads as to the true cause…

A Lear jet crash took the lives of the In & Out Burger chain owners.
The jet encountered wake turbulence from a 757 landing in front of them @ JWA Had never occurred before and since after @ JWA. Sketchy stuff

Lots of intersting, umm speculation on this thread, mostly by one fellow
![]() Just worked a Lear in from TIJ to YVR from same company 2 days ago. Work probably 20-30 MEDEVAC flights a day (mostly BE350/360, and a bunch of Lears, Falcons etc) they can travel full range of the aircraft in most cases (depending on type). These aircrat do not get chosen by these companies because of compromised range... It will be interesting to see what the actual cause of the crash was. And yes, this was an aircraft that crashed, not a missle.... ![]() Cheers

To be fair, a 20,000 lb airplane flown straight into the ground at takeoff thrust does a pretty good impression of a missile. This is still unlike any plane crash I have ever seen.

I agree.
As a 32 year guy controlling aircraft in that phase of flight, designing airspace, and working very closely with airlines and chief pilots technical and VIPs I am very interested in seeing the real cause of the crash. I have maybe only 100 hours of SIM time (plus some PP time), but in airliners, not the aircraft in question. Mostly to see if we need to implement changes on our end to help prevent a similar event, if we can. At any rate, terrible event, all those killed on the flight (and those on the ground). Terrible thing.

So, turns out they have the cvr but Lear wasn't equipped with fdr.

Yeah, great kid. AJ Brown from the Eagles heard the story and reached out, told him he'd bring the Lombardi by CHOP for him to see...
There's another kid his age in a burn unit in Boston, 90% of his body. Somehow, despite that, he was able to give first responders his address and mom's phone. Kids are amazing
