He just threw his life away and a good life it was. All that’s left is to ponder why?

Agreed, no way he keeps his job after this.

The videos are starting to trickle in. Not of the incident thus far but just saw one from a security camera at a business of him staggering down the sidewalk holding his gut with a huge blood stain on his shirt.

A top 3 reply should include alcoholism. Some people run out of substance use luck sooner, others later--but eventually... .

It is sounding like a long time bully and minor celebrity that likely got away with crap for all his life, stepped over the line in a big way. I can't find any sympathy for him at all.

I have no idea who this guy is, but he sounds like a douche nozzle. I hope Mr. Used Cooking oil takes him to the cleaners.

He was a star quarterback at USC, has been rumored to have gotten with a bunch of sweet models, actresses and Starlets over the years since he retired. Then got a sweet media job paying him a ton....

What's not to hate?

He also played in the NFL, but he probably peaked at USC.

I had completely forgotten:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Sanchez

Sanchez led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game, a losing effort to the Indianapolis Colts, becoming the fourth rookie quarterback in NFL history to win his first playoff game and the second to win two playoff games. In his second season, Sanchez again led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers; he joined Ben Roethlisberger as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to reach the conference championship in their first two seasons in the league.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

Decision making and impulse control were never his strong suit.

I was under the impression that Mark Sanchez showed up to a party with Kate Upton - she was 18 or 19 - and she was "discovered" at that party that kicked off her modeling career.

Interesting to see the 'lock the POS up!' from those who don't know the guy contrasted with the 'man I hope he gets help' from some that have some experience listening to him and are more aware of him as a thoughtful human being.

That's NOT a judgement on anyone as I've always got a pitchfork and torch on standby but maybe illustrates how quickly we (and I include myself in this) dehumanize others based on very little info.

edit to add- I can't imagine the scenario where an ex pro football player has an excuse for making that old man look like he does now.

Honestly, it sounds like mutual combat (before the toys were pulled out).
Over a parking spot one guy needed to do his job, and would be gone in a few minutes when his job of pumping the grease was done.

The grease dumpster is usually in a commercial parking only area. Mark comes off as a long time bully that was coddled in high school, college, and then the pros because he had some talent. He went full on stupid, and he deserves some prison time to think about his life. He will learn a real lesson on what a bully is in prison.

Important distinction; I'm not telling anyone to lock him up, (don't need to), I'm telling you what is going to happen to him. As more details come out about this incident, I predict that it will look a lot worse for Sanchez.

You think that the victim, (old guy), went looking for a fight with a young, 230 lb. former NFL player?? Mutual combat is when two guys, (or gals), are mouthing off to one another and one says, "you want to take it outside?" and the other says, "let's go."

You seem confused...when attacked, anyone tries to fight back. That is not, "mutual combat."

What bit sounds like mutual combat?

Quote:
“PT did not have his hearing aids in because his truck is very loud when he is exchanging the frying oil for the hotel, so he had to lean in close to Mr Sanchez to hear him,” the affidavit reads.

“When PT leaned in, he stated that Mr Sanchez smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred,” the affidavit continues.

Shortly afterward, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Sanchez, 38, allegedly hurled the driver against a wall before throwing him to the ground, at which point the driver said he stabbed the Fox Sports analyst in self-defense.
from the same article, they now have a timeline of activity.
Quote:
Just after midnight

A grease truck driver picking up cooking oil from a nearby hotel parks his truck in the loading dock, blocking the alley where Sanchez is doing sprints.
Sanchez approaches the driver to try to get him to move and eventually gets into an altercation where he body-slams him toward the wall and then to the ground.
The driver sprayed Sanchez with mace or pepper spray, but the former NFL quarterback continues attacking him.
The driver pulls a knife and stabs Sanchez two or three times in the chest, believing, “This guy is trying to kill me.”
We all know that the article could be total crap that's intended to spark outrage that the QD beat up an old man. I think we all, also know that there are old dudes that are dumb enough to start crap with a young fit dude whether they think they can take him or think that they can bluff their way to a win.

We just don't know. The old man could have been mouthy and started crap. My thoughts tend to mirror the picture that the article tries to paint "old guy gets stomped by younger, fitter hot head". But we all know that there's no telling what really happened without having video with clear audio or being there.
