I'm 20 and I drive a 73. Most of my friends like my car, and the ladies really do. Best friends girl decided to ride with me rather than him back from dinner last night. Maybe he will become a beleiver.

When I graduated college at 22, I accidently picked up an S2000 since I couldn't afford my Porsche yet. But after further research, the S2000 was gone and now have what I always wanted in my garage, the Porsche on the cover of my childhood book.
I'm 26 now and the car is 29. |
I'm 29...got my '78 last year.

I agree that people don't realize what the cars cost. I'm 34 and have a 76 911 Targa. I do get the rolling of eyes when I tell people I have a 911. My boss at work always gives me the "I drive a Pooorsche" in the Thurston Howell/country club accent. I finally told him that I have less invested in a 97 Suburban (Mom's grocery getter), a 94 Saab 900 (winter, rainy day car) and the 911 than he has in his 2003 Suburban!
I think most of my peers don't view driving as an experience or really allow themselves to become emotionally involved with a vehicle. They are either get from point A to point B or they are largely status symbols. In my experience the upkeep on the Porsche isn't unreasonable as if you don't need it as a daily driver you can take some time on it and do it yourself because there are so many great resources out there to help even the novice such as myself. Plus the 911 is just the most classy vehicle out there. |
My porsche is 25 years old, that is considered ancient. Come to think of it, so am I.

35 Here. I have had the car for 6 Years.
Looking to buy another one for street use. |
I received my 76 911S when I was 34. 36 now, and still own it.

I purchased my first porsche last week. It arrives next week. I wanted one since I was 10.
I am 32 Car: 1989 911 Cabriolet, 3.2 with turbo fenders Could be the most recent car in the thread, but it is the one I have wanted since high school. |
Im almost 23 and got my car when I was 17 (in high school). Bought it with my own 6K when my friends were getting 15K civics and integras from their parents. I've done ALOT to it since then and have never looked back. Id say its worth a bit more than those beat up jap cars now. who'd a thought.

I am 33 and the 911S is 29... I got it when I was 28 and it was 23... I think there are fewer DIY-er's in Generation X and Generation Y, and older cars scare many of my contemporaties. They just want something they can take to the dealer, and have it fixed there. They will never own anything other than a new or nearly new car, so until they have at least $40,000 to spend on a car, they won't have a Porsche. When they do have $40,000, it will probably be spent on an SUV...
