One wonders how he expects to get veteran votes (unless he buys them)? Although he is one of the greatest heroes of the Vietnam War....for the North Vietnamese. He must be proud to have been so often honored in the '70s and '90s in their press and to be currently honored in their war museum. I wonder if Benedict Arnold would have been supported for president by Washington's men who served at Valley Forge 35 years later if he *****ed a lot about the War of 1812 and promised them lots of other people's money?

I guess you missed the point -- again -- that Kerry has already gotten widespread veterans support and that's what helped him get the nomination.
Not everyone reads and swallows the Republican propaganda so readily. Bronze star, silver star. Deal with it. ---------my response, since you guys seem to have missed it ----------- I think it's legitimate to ask for details of Kerry's Vietnam record, because Kerry has made it a part of his campaign. All it takes is a little digging and you see the entire 'Swift Boat' attack is pasted together from the campaign dirty tricks book. People who gave Kerry glowing praise 35 years ago are now trying to backpedal. One guy is trying to discredit one of Kerry's five service medals, but his account is in conflict with the doctor's notes at the time. The leaders of the group are longtime Republican campaign managers and contributors, so I dismiss the book as backlash for Kerry's later disavowal of actions in Vietnam. In fact, it's Vietnam veterans who played a large role in winning Kerry the nomination. On the other hand, there's the article Mark linked to -- one of several -- questioning the recent behavior of GWB at a July 8 press conference. Behavior that combined with other actions -- such as the infamous 'pretzel incident' make one question, at minimum, the state of health of the guy. I put this up without endorsement, butr asking if we should ahve access to the current prescription drug intake of the President. Some may recall that Bush1 also was on mood-management drugs, which adds, i think, further legitimacy to the question. As for the 'remote diagnosis' in the article, well, I saw that done many times when Clinton was in office, along with every conspiracy theory in the world essentially suggesting the Clintons were mass murderers. I think by comparison, asking about the mental state of the President is quite legitimate.

Kerry served in Vietnam and should be credited with that just like everyone else who was there. However, I question the character of somebody who engaged in this type of activity:
"Kerry carried a home movie camera to record his exploits for later viewing," charges a naval officer in the upcoming book UNFIT FOR COMMAND. "Kerry would revisit ambush locations for reenacting combat scenes where he would portray the hero, catching it all on film. Kerry would take movies of himself walking around in combat gear, sometimes dressed as an infantryman walking resolutely through the terrain. He even filmed mock interviews of himself narrating his exploits. A joke circulated among Swiftees was that Kerry left Vietnam early not because he received three Purple Hearts, but because he had recorded enough film of himself to take home for his planned political campaigns." |

Did he lose all the film? Or did he forget to load the camera?

The Swift Boat Kerry haters are lead by a couple bigtime Republican operatives. If the Righties are going to discount anything Carville says, I think we can discount whatever the Republican hit squads say -- especially since a couple of the Swift Boat guys were already caught in lies. I suppose the Dems could do the same about GWB, if anybody could remember "serving" with him.

But I think ya gotta remember, uh, you have to remember, that uh, that uh, now {unintelligible] in Vietnam should be enough, that now you would have the [unint] to get back and reassure people that those few that come back – like Kerry and the rest – don’t speak for all. So what are you guys saying? Are you saying that some longstanding conservatives are working in an organization to expose the truth about thrice purple heart winning.....John Kerry. And are you saying that this organization includes Admirals, Naval offiers as well as enlisted sailors? Well, I guess the group has no credibility then. Thank you for clearing that up.

Pleeeeaaaassssseee get real....... In this time of "global economics"......... Can you say Daimler-Chrysler ????? Internationalism is vital!!!!!! George Jr. has totally destroyed this!!! He's a joke....... btw......apparently he's taking yet another vacation prior to the Rep. Convention....... If as Prez you decide to start a war......isn't it a good idea to limit your R&R time??? George Bush Jr = Attention Deficit Disorder
