If you can get your "9 second" bike even below the 11 second range, you are doing quite well. Most street riders never hit the track and learn the techniques. The disparity seems much greater with bikes than with cars. Back when I was still heavy into drag racing, my honest 11 second bracket car ate "10 second" bikes for lunch. The guys just couldn't ride them well enough.
Exactly what I said, rider skill or lack thereof would be the deciding factor in most cases. Only ever did one timed pass at Englishtown, if I remember correctly it was 11.05 @ 132mph 1/4 mile, I've been riding since I was 5y.o. and can launch a dirtbike or streetbike with the front wheel 6 inches off the ground through the first 3 gears without thinking about it (most of the time). The advantages of cars are weight distribution, torque and automatic transmissions which, in a non-pro situation, are hard to compete with against in a well sorted, fast car and good driver, HOWEVER, I'll always bet on myself and my bike against any street car no matter how exotic. 0-60 = 2.7 secs, 0-100=6 secs, 1st gear=80mph, top speed 185+mph, odds are in my favor.

That's doing pretty darn good in the 1/4 there, audi. Anyone who has ever tried to ride a bike like yours to its real potential knows just how hard it really is. You're right, too, in that there really isn't much in the way of street legal cars that will even come close to hanging with one of these bikes, especially with a rider that knows what he's doing. Most cars that can keep up really stand out from the crowd anyway. That's what makes the Buick so much fun; even some one who knows what to look for would miss it at a casual glance. Unless you see it from behind (before, as opposed to after the race starts) and notice the truly massive tires and narrowed rear, you would never know. It's quiet, has a full interior, sits at the stock ride height, and when he's being a real smart-ass it has a baby seat in back.

Zach, I'm still waiting for those Turbo sway bars that I paid for last December. Please ship them out to me.

Thanks.

ps. I've driven 500 miles per hour...zillions of times, honest.

Ted, this must give you an appreciation for what the "good ol' boys" did there today, yes? BTW, The winner, Greg Biffle, is from the Northwest. (edit) I've driven a car fast, MPH wise...but the "fastest" I've ever gone? Yamaha dirt bike, up a deer trail, a rock wall on my right, a drop of 100' or so to a creek on my left..at an estimated speed of maybe 10-12 MPH...The speed itself is relative...

You bet those guys are fearless. They do it much faster for hours in shoe boxes with no wings.
