The best vehicle I ever owned!

The Honda Trail 90. I should be imprisoned for the abuse I gave this fine piece of Japanese engineering. While it did receive regular oil changes and a spark plug here and there along with a hosing off, that was it. From 1973 to 1983, she never let me down. I gave her to a neighbor kid who later moved away. Early Honda's were and are awesome machines!

No kidding! I rode one in college, and then rode the 750 SOHC thing. At a time when motorcycles typically needed three repairs per oil change cycle, the Japanese invasion presented something new. Reliability. Not not just a little. Honda motorcycles became known immediately as precision machines that were as reliable as the Sun. I'm not sure whether anyone knows what it would take to kill one.

Rust is currently killing mine. My brother and I are slowly getting her cleaned up though.

Bought it from my Grandfather a couple of years ago...mostly for sentimental value as it was the first motorcycle I ever rode.

He bought in '67 for a camping trip to Yellowstone. Most of the miles on it (less than 600) were put on it touring the park with my Grandmother on the back.

We hope to have it restored before Grandpa calls it quits.

Had an "SL90" as a kid. Gas tank up front. A most excellent piece of machinery. Was in a Honda dealer most recently. They still make the same basic engine in 50cc & 70cc for a few other models..

I beat the hell out of a 1970 z50, 1970 QA50, CT70 and an XR75 when I was a kid, great fun and all ran when I parted w/ them (although lights, turnsignals and frames were somewhat tore up! I wish I had kept them all!
I now have a '69 qa50 and a '75 mr 50 that I totally restored for my daughters when they were younger..... I am keeping them!!!!

From what one of my brothers co-workers (who just finished restoring his own Trail 70) said...you can still order replacement parts for these bike directly from Honda. It's all just a matter of how long you want to wait.

The bike we have has a lot of surface rust but is mechanically quite sound. Need to find an owners manual though.

The trail 70 was the first motorcycle I learned to ride. It belonged to my cousins and they were very destructive kids....but the trail 70 withstood all the abuse and more. They later traded it for an XL 100 which did not last as long!
I tried to find a trail 70 for my kids...none to be found! I bought them an XL75, but it wasn't near tough enough for training...we gave it away!

1975 CB750F

Awesome bike. Bought it on the side of the road for $400 when I was 16. I had my uncle paint the tank and sidecovers pearl black and I polished every last bit of chrome on it. All I had to do to get it running again was clean out the carbs and put a new set of points in it. Loved that bike

As for the best car I ever owned...

1985 Chevy S-10 Blazer.

My dad bought it brand new when i was a kid and I eventually got it when I was 17. Got over 400,000 miles on it before the camshaft lobes wore flat. People say the 2.8 V-6 is a bad motor, but we must have gotten a good one... That thing survived a head on collision with a Cal-Trans panel box flying off the back of a truck and only crushed the front bumper. New bumper, few tugs with the diesel and a chain and it was good as new.

As long as we're being nostalgic about great trail bikes, I really miss my Hodaka. I eventually stripped it down & took it racing, but there was nothing more fun in life than trail riding with your buddies on a great spring day in 1971

A question:
Could you ride the 50 cc in a city environment and simply use an M2 license rather than the full M1 (over 50cc license)? I have seen a lot of these types of bikes while living in Japan (they are called the Honda Monkey and the Gorilla over there) and one of these might make a good San Francisco run-about.
