95 mph in a v-drive race boat, 454 c.i. 600 h.p. 95 on the water feels more like 195. Scarest ride of my life.
________ 1981 SC |
165 (limited) in my wife's W8 4-Motion Passat.
|
185MPH 2001 Kawasaki ZX11D9 -two wheels
149MPH 2001 Ford SVT Lightning - four wheels |
140 in a 928 on I84, almost got shot by the cop that pulled me over.
|
172 in my M6
166 in my 930 with wife, luggage and full tank. I weighed about 285 at the time no fuss. |
Young and stupid!!!! When the road block on an expressway had me slow down and stop. I knew I had a problem. A vette modified, with the law following and couldn't catch me (he was pi$$ed, and told me so. 12 tickets later. Spent the night, behind steel and a lot of $$$$ later, learned the hard way.30+ years ago. 160 in 65. Have not gone fast for a lot of years!

Driver:
140+/- in my 914-6 (with both trunks full of luggage and spares) 150+/- in my mom's '75 Carrera w/3.0 turbo Passenger: 156 (indicated and verified on paper) - '7? Carrera w/3.3 Turbo |
Road: Just under 220km/h or 135mph in a BMW 320d on the autobahn somewhere between Nuerburg and Stuttgart last summer. Might have gotten faster if I'd dropped down to 5th.
Track, me driving: 135mph on the back straight at VIR in my 951. Speed limited by lack of cojones. Track, riding: I don't know how fast the 'Ring taxi was going, or how fast Brian Keith Smith's 930 was at VIR but I'm thinking either beat 220km/h... |
110+ in my 4-cyl. '85 Fiero when I was eighteen - passed 2 cops parked on a side street and didn't realize they were behind me(no flashers) till they were power-sliding past my drive sideways!! No kidding, it looked like something out of the movies - got written up as 95 in a 45 'cause they never actually clocked me.($80 fine!!)
125 indicated in my Targa with top off and windows down last summer - still felt like it wanted more, but I was gettin' the jitters! Oh, and I think my '83 Rabbit Convertible once hit 85 going down a big hill :) |
Sorry to burst everyone's bubble about going fast, even the mach 1.3 or 200+ mph. If you feel like you are REALLY going fast, try 62 MPH on 20 cm tires down a twisty mountain pass on a racing bicycle, one squirrel, and some thin Lycra, away from terminal road-rash. :D

140mph
kinda fast (ish) would like to take my baby to its max, and to a race track... |

143mph in a 32' Excalibur Cat in 3' swells down Cheseapeake Bay (confirmed measured mile run) (2 NA 800hp chevy 572's) 165mph (+/-) up the NJ turnpike, watched the troopers car fade away in the rearview ! Had offer to ride shotgun in a 25', 170mph pickle fork drag boat (said, no thanks). |
215 MPH on the run down from Mulsanne Corner to Indianapolis on the Le Mans 24 hour circuit in my 962C.
It would have gone quicker but it was on the rev limiter! That part of the circuit is public roads normally and is fairly steeply crowned which makes the car move around sideways very suddenly and sharpley - it definately gets your attention! NigelJ |

105 going down Snoqualmie Pass on Interstate 90 in Washington. In a Fiat X1/9. Racing a 240Z. Passing a car in the middle lane, then both changing into the center lane. Stoopid, 18 yrs old. Probably in the early 1980s. |
163 on the highway,911
173 on the track,911 race car 150 on the highway into a downhill left hand turn, 911 paying full attention on all three especially the downhill left hand turn |
About 100 in a 250cc shifter cart...With your butt 1 1/2" off the ground THAT was waaaaaaaay faster than 170'ish in a GT1 Camaro down the backstretch headed into gravity cavity at the (old) Road Atlanta.
