247 kph (apx 154 mph) last June in a rented 997. We took a 9 day driving trip through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. The car was loaded w/ luggage and felt a little squirely above 240 kph.
I missed a marker on the Autobahn in Germany that indicated no speed limit, was doing 160 kph, watched a black M-B coming up behind me, when it passed I looked over and saw a 60 - 70 year old lady driving doing 180 kph (110+mph)!! Thought to myself, what a great place to drive!! I agree w/ a previous poster that you get acustomed to the higher speeds real quickly. Of course it helps when you have drivers that know that the left lane is for passing only! Far better and more courtious drivers in Europe (not counting Italy). Bill W.

158 mph in my 930 (GPS Verified).
I was indicating 165 mph so I backed off (I was hoping for 160). Damn pissed I didn't stay on the gas for the additional 2 mph!

181mph in my 99 FRC corvette with mods gps verified this past weekend
flat out in 6th gear on the interstate. Would you believe a newer maxima tried to stay with me. It was about all she had and I could tell rotors were getting hot because when I braked I felt the pedal fluctuate which is not a good feeling at over 150mph

I was a passanger for 105 mph in a Geo Metro, 3-cylinder, automatic, with 5 people in the car. It was downhill. Talk about sketchy! Luckily we snapped a picture of the speedo as proof the metro was that fast. We killed that motor, it would burn a quart of oil every 35 miles before it just flat out died. But it would cruise at 85 no problem before that!
Did 125, again as a passanger with the above driver, in a Nissan Altima 4-banger. We hit that a couple times, along with average cruising around 90, on a trip to Troy, NY. Made for a fast trip! Did 120-something on my Honda Interceptor... I'll never feel compelled to go that fast on a bike again. P-car has only gone over 100 a couple times. I'm really a slow driver, I like to keep the RPMs and the temps down. |

150 mph in Germany...in a Diesel!!!
BMW 530D Rentals from Sixt and Europcar. Cruise at 120mph all day long, max out at 150 MPH+ when alert and weather/traffic allows it.
Over 130 mph is a lot of work, fatal if you crash, and you can only drive this way for 30 minutes or so at a time. You must remain alert and not have any distractions; no phone, radio, food, drink. -Doug |

On my Honda VF 1000R I hit 154 mph with my belly on the tank and feet on the rear turn signals. What a rush that was. In a car in my friends Maranello we hit 182 mph and it felt like we were doing 80...smooooooothe! For total fuel efficiency I hit 160 mph +or - freefalling a skydive. That is the ultimate rush hands down!!!
Oh and in my 85 Cab the speedo said 142, with top down.
