Show Me Your Interesting Gun (A Debate-Free Thread)

How's about we avoid the pro/anti debate this time, and simply share pics of our favorite guns? Here's one of mine. A shooter Luger, marked Erfurt 1914 but a mix of two different guns, had the trigger worked on, feed ramp polished, insert for the sight, very accurate and fun to shoot, still not reliable enough to be a defense gun.

				My new carry P345

After selling off my 8045 Beretta, I was in dire need of a new carry piece. Thanks to biz being slow I was limited in funds. Decided to bite it and try a polymer pistol. This is a new model by Ruger - I was a bit hesitant at first since I wasn't quite 100% certain of the brand figuring at the very least it'll collect dust in the glovebox and I won't be tempted to bling it out. I'll tell ya this thing was a pleasant surprise. It shoots damn nice, out of the box it was sighted correctly and I'm able to throw some pretty damn tight groups at 25 yards. 300 rounds of assorted through it so far not a single misfire yet. Shoots almost as well out of the box as my massaged Para 14-45 LTD with some tricks. I'm glad I bought this thing. $369 with 2 clips. pretty as hell too.

While this is not my rifle in particular (I got the photo from the Ballard Rifle Company's web site), it is representative of mine. I've got an original Ballard Pacific, made in about 1880 or so. It accompanied the Robinson brothers when they made their journey North from Lake Chelan up to the Northern end of the Okanogan valley. There is a pass on an old horse trail to this day up in the North Cascades called Robinson Pass. Anyway, it has a full octagon 32" barrel, was originally chambered in .40-63 Ballard (same as .40-65 Winchester), but was re-chambered and re-bored to .45-70 by a gun smith in Oroville back in the '40's. When I first got it the wood was all dried out and cracked in several places, the action was all but rusted shut, and the barrel looked like the exhaust manifold on an old Chevy. After several months of clean-up work and rebuilding the action, I started shooting it. Straight black powder only, with the Lyman #457193 420 grain flat nose. Within a year I had shot a beautiful 4 x 7 mulie up in - guess where - the Okanogan valley (Robinson Pass is inside the North Cascades National Park, so no deer shooting there). Anyway, when I get home tonight I'll post a photo of my rifle. It's not as pretty as the new one, but it's got character.

| Registered | That one now wears a new stock and looks absolutely beautiful. She shoots well, too. The vernier scale long range sight on my Sharps repro My No4Mk1 in great condition. (no comments about the sling, damnit!) The pocket rocket Not mine, but I got to put a few magazines through it. My comment was "Excuse me, I need to go clean my pants out now" I have more. Something like 17 in my collection so far. C&R licenses are baaaaad. Very baaaaad... especially if you like old military firearms.

Oh... heck... you wanted one of our UNIQUE firearms? This isn't a picture of either of mine, but I have two of them: Swiss Schmidt Rubin K31. Straight pull bolt rifle chambered for 7.5x55mm Swiss. They are CRAZY accurate for old military rifles. And being Swiss, they are AMAZINGLY well made. The two I have were made in 1937 and 1953, and the bolt, barrel and receiver, aside from being a bit faded, look like they were machined yesterday. The stocks were dinged up pretty bad, but wood is easy to fix up. They are great rifles, but they are difficult to scope, as they eject directly out the top. Doesn't bother me, I prefer using iron sights.

Mike, I don't have many pictures of the K31s. The older one I have is in a nice walnut stock with some nice striping grain structures, but it's still pretty banged up. I need to steam it to get the dents out and then strip and lightly sand it. It should turn out beautiful. Also both of the K31s I have had tags under the buttplate.
