spyder questions

hey guys

I found a spyder in a old barn , it looks to be complete but needs restro, the lady bought the house and it came with the spyder and a 914 in the barn , she really doesnt know anything about Porsche and just thinks of them has rusty old cars

What is a spyder worth if i restore it , what should i offer her for it ? are the engine parts kicking around still ? any info would be great

thanks
Dave

Dave,

How about some more information and a picture or two? What year, model, is it complete, rust etc.

Yeah, what Joe said.
I mean are we talking about something special like a real Spyder (550, RS60, RSK, etc.)? Or are you referring to a Speedster or maybe just 356 cabriolet? And if it is any of the above, have you verified that it is the genuine article and not a replica?

Settle Petal...

It's just that so many of the guys here have been hurt by cruel teasing by other board members with taunts like "I just found xxxx in an old lady's barn" They just get so excited for you, that's it's emotional to have it ripped away when they find out you're a troll or the car is "just a T"

Don't worry dude, if you've truly been blessed with this genuine discovery and can post a few photos... this thread will light up like it's on fire

That'd be sweet if it were a 916/6 to boot!

Our old barn has scorpions. The bug, not the band.

I will be in CT the end of June. I would love to varify this to the rest of the disbelievers on the board. I de-bunked bigger myths.

What part of CT? I will make sure to bring some cash in case this car turns out to be a dog - no sense in you worrying about how to get rid of it. I'll just slip you some small, unmarked bills and you won't have to worry about the disposal costs.

well the spyder and the 914 has so many boxes on them it goes almost to the ceiling, she will clean it this mo and i will go back and check vin #'s and factory plates to find out what yrs and total condition, i can see the 914 has some paint chiping off the front hood and the spyder still has shine but cant look under it totally, i told her ill take both and some other timderframing tools i noticed too, looks like 1000 bucks for everything is the asking price, she doesnt have any titles but in CT 25 yrs and older doesnt need them

I said it sounds like BS, and the more you post the more it does.

If there was a steal like that sitting around waiting for me to take it I would offer to reorganize however many boxes and items it would take to unbury the cars and see whats there.

Ah, but you want to wait untill some small woman does the heavy lifting for you before you get around to the deal of the century.

You are sending my BS meter off the charts.

DP,

Post some pictures and prove the nay sayers wrong...

I would love to find something in a barn. Have done it but not here. Was working in Berlin years ago and found that the dispatcher liked cars just like me. Went to his small garage and once he opened the door realized that there was not one but two cars sitting there. A '58 or '59 cabrio bathtub sitting next to a '70 911. Sadly he would not sell them and due to the dirt floor they were rusting to death. They are probably still there and in even worse condition.

Also, have found several airplanes up in barns. Most in the middle of no-where after someone landed off airport. Heard about one just last week but I have enough projects now and do not need more!

I never chuck anything. My attention to detail would greatly improve her stack of boxes.

If its anything like whats under them, one might even find a gold mine in those boxes, assuming both the cars and the giant pile of unpenatratable boxes really exist.

Spyder is a body style that has been produced by several mfrs.
Are we talking about a Porsche, Alfa, Fiat, Ferrari, etc., etc.?
If it's Porsche, there will be no parts "kicking around".
These are so rare, many owners won't even admit having one!

If you're just going to rob the old lady, I suggest a mask and a short 12 ga, you never know who her friends and family are.
