I'm sorry; I should have said that many states will not register/title a vehicle from another state w/o a title. This definitely creates a problem for selling a car w/o a title over state lines on ebay.

It can be a bit dicey in some circumstances. I have bought and sold several cars on Ebay, and I am an absolute nut about paperwork. I will not make payment until I see proof of clear ownership.

revised with apology

I apologize to the list for inappropriate languages and out burst of anger. Completely inexcusable. I was urged by the investigator to revise what I wrote. Once again, I apologize. Andy

I'm not jumping to conclusions but it doesn't take much to put this whole chain of events together.

Andy, give us more details

I'm waiting to hear from dcAutomotive. I truly hope he had nothing to do with this.

Good point, Brian.

It will be interesting to see what number/location the police find.

Are you Kidding? Is the point that you are making that someone random would not have found his personal info.

If you were going to send me title I'm pretty sure that you would know where I live.

This is strange and I'm not gonna bite quite yet.

"random" is the key word here, but like others I'll hold off on making any connections

sorry to hear about this Andy. Few pages back, some mentioned closing deals on a handshake. There are some trashy people out there who apparently have no dignity.

Someone needs some broken bones, but lets find out who that is first.

NOT GOOD...

Andy, I'd also look into hiring a PI. Compared to the law enforcement you'd be surprised how much they can accomplish...

a broken window is the level of vandalism/anger that *maybe* i can understand, but to make threatening phone calls reaches just another level of sleaziness... wtf is this, "Sopranos"???

It wasn't a Pelican member. No way. I have no hard proof of that but I'll eat my hat if I'm wrong.

I've met Janus and I have a feeling that if he actually knew the person, he would probably pop his skull like a grape just by sqeezing the sides with his hands.

Sorry, it was an emotional reaction. I've made good friends through Pelican and so I am bit defensive. Perhaps I should have said, "That behavior is completely inconsistent with anyone I've ever met from this BBS." Sure, I guess anyone can sign up for the BBS and act like an assclown. And since we are on the open internet, even non-members can read it and go postal. But the level of civility is so consistently high here and in person that I will be mightily shocked if the perp is a regular Pelican contributer.

WTF? Is this for real? Why would anyone go through the trouble of coming all the way to NoVA for such antics? Glad my garage is insured by SIG Sauer.

Ok,Ok, i know i said i would keep my comments till after we delivered title; but i cant help it.
I will admit that i was very upset and definitely went overboard with my accusations and comments. I truly love what i do and i love our company; so i take negative comments and attacks a little too personally.

I feel compelled to give more of an explanation on our part:

First; we are a NEW used car dealer in the state of NC, we never held a used car dealers license before...
CT issued us a salvage dealers license, big difference...

While i am sure the dmv of NC meant well, we were continually fed misleading info with regard to titles... After several visits we may finally see the light...

NC is REALLY strict, all documents require a notary.

In lieu of a title they wanted a CURRENT registration; impossible as the vehicle was off the road for over 2 years.

Even though i now have a bond to cover the car; another issue has crept up; they want to inspect it... AAAAARRRRGGHH!
We have sold many rollers sans title to companies and individuals in MA and ny, never any problem; they must have some bilateral agreement or something...

I have decided to try to pass the valid CT paperwork thru one of those states and see where it gets me. Andy if you want; and will let us, we will pick up the car next week, have it inspected, and return it too you. That is the only way for an NC title that i promised. Otherwise we will work it with another state.

Its true the paperwork was not worked on as timely as it could have been; I guess we felt since Andy had the car, there was really no rush...
We were mistaken, especially me. I am sorry to have caused you any headache, you were very patient. Its my responsibiltiy to make it right and i will. Nothing like this has ever happened (nor will it again; u can believe that). Ironically or maybe for the best; i ended the auction early to sell the car to a local, to promote some local walk in business. HA!
Well i see the humor in it any way...

Regards
