A little fun thing.

One president of the United States, in a State of the Union address, declared that all Americans should have the following rights:

The right to a useful and renumerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad

The right of every family to a decent home

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment

So which president made this "Second Bill of Rights" part of what year State of the Union message?

FDR was a Democrat that many of us right wingers would support today. Somewhere along the way Democrats lost their way and evolved into todays "pinko liberal socialists". It's too bad; they used to be relevant.

During the Great One there was no liquidity in the system... FDR put some grease in the system to loosen it up...to get it moving again...

I'm buying, Jeff, next time we drink. Seriously, don't get caricatures confused as facts. "Liberal" is indeed quite a dirty word these days. All the good public policy positions are now assumed to be the "conservative" positions, and all the nastiest ideas are thought to be the "liberal" platform. This is marketing genius and political savvy, but unfortunately it is not the truth.

Only for those who listen to the right-biased media outlets. Listen to them tap-dance when they blast 'tax and spend' and 'big government' as "liberal" while excusing runaway government growth and booming deficits as somehow "fiscally responsible" if a Republican does it.
