A few years ago, folks decided to resurrect the "Porsche Flash." Many Porsche related websites have joined this campaign and have posted the following words:
Quote:
In either case, there is no mention of specific models. If you wish to put anything on a T-shirt, perhaps you should follow their lead. Regards, -Z.

I like them all, in any form. They are ALL great cars and where made for a reason and for there time period. But I do dislike some 911 owners thinking they are somehow the only true Porsche owners.
Have orginally owning a 1983 944 back in 85, I loved it. Nothing could touch it handling wise and made good power for it's day at 150hp (seems low now!). When it was time to move on I looked at 2 cars, a 1979 911SC and 1991 944S2. The S2 came home! No comparison, the SC seemed like a toy after driving the S2! But I still love ALL Porsches! So it does kinda chap my _ss when you wave at a 911 guy and they ingnore ya, when they and I both know their older 911 doesn't stand a chance against a chipped M030 S2. ....or maybe it's that older 911 air-cooled guys can't swallow the fact that there are MANY 4 cylinder front engine water cooled Porsches running around that can clean thier clock - with ease I might add. True Porsche fans know what each car can do. There are 944 Turbos running around with 400+hp, these are not poorly built Audi/VW cars and do deserve some respect. Not too many 911 owners can claim they can touch a 400hp 951, true? Heck my friends 2001 Boxster is 10 years newer and has 11 LESS HP than my S2 (217 vs 228)! Again, I'm not slamming 911 guys. I just wish they would have some respect for non-911 owners. I feel even worse for the way 914 924 guys get treated, they are fun cars! And if where not for the 944 chances are high Porsche would not exist today. The 944 was also Car and Driver 10 Best in 1983, 1984, 1985, and 1986! I guess I have kinda started to favor the 924/44/68 line these days and have gone somewhat backwards in restoring a 1980 931 Turbo S (924 Turbo S) and plan to replace the S2 with a cab 968. Maybe someday a 911, but no real reason too unless I really want that wave back..... And not all 911 guys are this way. Several times I've had 911 and 911 Turbo guys wave at me first when driving the S2 and the 924 Turbo S, and I'm sure it's because they KNOW the car. Can't we all just get along and have respect for ALL Porsche owners. My rules. Wave at ALL Porsches! 91 944 S2 (M030 Club Sport) 84 944 (rare non sunroof model) 80 931 Turbo S w/LSD (924 Carrera GT rep) Last edited by Capri22racer; 07-20-2005 at 07:45 AM.. |

Someday I will have a 911, and I'll still wave to all Porsches. Wave at me, don't wave at me, I don't care.
I'm sad to see that it takes so much effort to just wave at ALL Porsches that you: a. see the Porsche on the road b. make an effort to recognize the year c. make sure the model isn't one that offends you d. consciously recall your little list so you know what to do e. take appropriate action (according to list, of course) f. ***** when the other car doesn't return with an enthusiastic wave, becuase, after all, you drive a 911 It takes NO effort, just flippin' wave! There is _nothing_ to be lost by waving at an 'inferior' Porsche, or even the newbies and 'posers' driving boxsters.

Saab owners are far more likely to wave at each other. I had an ol 99 and Saabs of all sorts would wave. I wanted to continue the spirit with the Volvo so I would flash other Volvo owners the piece sign thinking that the V my fingers made would show unionship. Nothing happened. I guess I'm not a trend setter or Volvo owners are doofis's!
I do see Porsche owners all the time on the road when I have the Targa out and all of them are very freindly - most turn out to be members of the PCA and because I manger the mag they say they recognize me - I think they are just being nice.

This is too funny.
There are actually people out there in the same world I live in that take this stuff seriously. Take the time to identify a car before you wave? Were you BORN with a wedgy? We wave at everybody. We talk to all the PCA members at meets, nomatter what they drive. It's all good it's all Porsche and it's all appreciation for all efforts automotive. I just want a T-shirt that sais "Bring Back the Flash" and has a girl with big boobs on it. Now can we PLEASE use this 911 Technical Forum for something technical?

Technically speaking . ..How do I mount a spring to my dash?
I have this "hand-on-spring" idea . . . intended to rock back and forth in the front window, as I drive . ..always ensuring no one is left out of the wave-parade. Once perfected I'll sell millions . . billions MUHAHAhahaha ![]()

Updated Wave
The Porsche Wave
1. Arrogant air-cooled outdated 911 owners – Wave, then pull over and b_ow each other. (Pulling over is a nice gesture to get out of the way of the faster S2, 951, 968, 928 and 914/6 owners getting ready to pass you.) 2. Everything else with a Porsche Badge (Including NON-Arrogant 911 owners) – Wave and have nice day while enjoying your car. (These owners respect each other and understand that ALL Porsches ARE Porsches and we ALL decended from some form of VW or Audi.) Seems simple! Quote:

. . it can't be "bounce or shake". That would be aaalll wrong. I'm mean could you imagine the confusion? Some teener might get a 'shake' and be happy with that as a "wave" . . . until it happens to "Bounce" for some SC guy . .which would clearly be seen as a "high-five" . .and clearly be bettering the simple "wave" had for the teener. At which point, the teeners would start whip'n their long shlongs around! Hey . . . it's only fun until someone loses an eye. ![]() DIE thread DIE . ... Ya know... its funny how people always find a way to seperate themselves. Thats the problem these days. Recently I attended "waterfest" the big vw/audi festival in NJ and there really wasnt any of that going on. It was one of the best days of my life. Thousands of people grouped together with a common passion. The drive down from NH was amazing. We were in a group of about 25 different types of vw's, audi's, and BMW's all driving together in a line. There were corrado's, rabbits, scirrocos, R32's, 20th a.e GTI's, 16 valve GTI's, Jettas from every year, vanagons, bugs, you name it. We owned the road.
So it got me thinking....Why arent porsche people more like that. It doesnt matter what kind of porsche you own. Your part of the group and you deserve a wave, a bow, and a salute if you ask me. You know I think one of the reasons I have always felt so passionate about cars and driving is the people that you meet along the way. Its the feeling that your part of something bigger than yourself or anyone as an individual. And you know what...we're the PORSCHE group. So instead of trying to constantly seperate people into stereotypical groups why dont we try to keep the passion alive. Drive them, take care of them, and meet a lot of great people along the way that share that same passion. Next time you see a porsche on the road...give a wave. What do you have to lose?
