Shaun, look.
The deal here is, you have a reputation for butting into people deals in the classifieds. You've done it several times in the past, to the point of blowing a deal for me once because of your insistance that someone wasn't asking enough money for something. It's not up to you to set pricing on P-Car parts. If you don't want to buy something, stay out of it. Then we wouldn't be here bickering. Fair enough?

As to the yesterday's business, it was all about a thread in classifieds yesterday, one that was dead yesterday, but Souk has resurrected today.

I've gotten an email from someone who knows you personally saying "he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met." and doesn't understand your posts. What's up?

![]() I do not agree with those who do not like Shawns selection of career's but thats not what gets him into trouble. Sticking his nose in others business is what has caused this and he still does not realize that he does it far too often and has gotten a few people perturbed at him for it. He then tries to bring up the "I am doing it to help others" slant without realizing that many of us do not need nor want his help! Agree... hope that he does not burn up on re-entry... JoeA

Who knows... maybe it will be tagged as an urban legend 'badge of honor' among promiscuous teens. But then again, even bad press is good press... eh? The guy decide to post a bunch of stuff about his business on the OT forum of a bunch of car nuts, talks politics and is a bit of a prick in the classifieds. He's pretty much asking to be poked at with a stick. -b

OK, I will edit.
None of us here work (today). After all, it's Wednesday. I think that must mean something. Bob

Guys, this is the thread that started it all.
FS 3.2 complete engine. What is a fair price? guy posts a motor with 125K on it, wants an opinion on value. he thinks 4500 to 4700. I offer my opinion. Souk says it's worth $1500 to $1700. I rest my case.

if you had said I'm prick RE: politics in OT, I'd have to agree BTW. On G9Girl here in OT. Hey, this Off Topic. and I thought, and it has been confirmed, that many people would like to see the stages of a growing company from ground zero. To many, maybe not to you, it's interesting. I've gotten tremendous feedback from inventory bookkeeping to executing a recent private placement to having a fellow Pelican join the staff. In short, it's been a great experience. Today we were going to announce the launch of Chain Reaction, our new eZine, but probably won't. Guys, in the end, my words here are backed up by my actions, ones that demonstrate the strength of my character. I live by a specific philoshophy, it's clearly not for everyone, but I am nothing if not tenacious in my beliefs.

Posted by Souk in the thread Shaun gave us a link to:
"A 3.2 with that kind of mileage will need a rebuild (topend) soon despite your compression numbers... a prudent buyer would look to deduct about 3K from your asking price." I just took my '87 Carrera for a mjor service to a well respected local shop. It has 118K miles on it and good compression numbers. The wrench told me to plan on a rebuild in about 25K miles and the quote for that job was $8K. BTW, that was already a second opinion. Another shop I used before quoted $6K but the job needed to be done NOW. Last edited by cantdrv55; 08-17-2005 at 07:40 AM.. |

There have been several people (not just Souk) who have chimed in and said that you did something on the forum that was not correct in their, and others view. Its your actions that are pissing people off yet you continue to deny doing anything. Keep digging the hole deeper but its not helping. JoeA

What was his rationale for the rebuild?
Why 25K more miles? How much oil do you burn every 1K now? $8K for a top end rebuild is very high BTW. My experience: have had 2 3.2 cars, 84 and 86. both went to well over 200K miles before needing to be opened up. Why my 241K mile 3.2 burned a quart every 700 miles, within factory spec, when I sold it. More experience: Getting out of school I apprenticed at a local Porsche race shop. I've done their books on and off for years and am active friends with them. If a 3.2 passes the 80K mile mark and your valve guides make it through, there's a good shot at seeing 200K before it needs to be opened up. But don't take my word for it, just read what Bruce Anderson has to say.
