My take on the original post was that the guy didn't really know what he had, and the value. Knowing Souk's history on lowballing, my only goal was to help establish value, nothing more.

I think Souk's follow-up posts confirmed my suspicion.
Yet again one of my posts in response to Shaun making derogatory statement about me has been deleted. I'm sorry Noah, but I'm going to keep posting a response to this pest until I get banned or my response is left or his is delete.

Once again! My price is what I (ME!) will pay. And if anyone think's it's too low, well...then don't sell! (For the record, I never even made an offer to Bruce)

If my pricing is too conservative for anyone, then don't deal with me. My conservative pricing goes both ways, and I won't screw anyone over.

Two words: anger management. I mean that seriously, not as some OT quip.

My only other recommendation is that you post the full details of any accusations against me here for all to see. Why do it behind the scenes in email or PM?

Bring it out in light.

EDIT: If you've just started reading this, go get yourself some chips, salsa, heck, a whole turkey dinner, you'll be here awhile.

You can save yourself a lot of time and headache by going to page 12, mid page, here:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/236475-im-calling-you-out-69-girlie-boy-post2075024.html#post2075024

Take a read and then come back, but only if you have absolutely nothing to do for the next few hours.

I'm glad Noah called out Shaun for his bull***** tactic of injecting his pricing comments into other people's potential transactions. And there seems to be a correlation with Shaun's interference when a transaction involves Souk.

Well if you're going to have a clawing match - why don't one of you spell it out. Or to feel better you can check out my second car thread and give me your opinions - that might take your mind off things

Poor Noah has been busy moderating this the thread and delete a lot of the post, but this is the thread that 69-Girl decided he wanted to play.

First, I guarantee all of you just tuning in that this will most likely be the most entertaining thread you will read all year. This is all about this thread yesterday: Duck Tail For Sale- Porsche Oem

Unfortunately it was built up and edited down by moderator Noah (rightfully so) so it's tough to really understand exactly what went on without a field guide.

Here's what happened. This fellow posts that he has a factory ducktail but clearly doesn't know exactly what he has. You'll see a post by me after Milt's (Zeke) but that is actually several posts later, the previous ones being edited out. My first post was something like, "what is this worth, $1500?" based on some reasonable knowledge of the factory ducktail market, based in part on tech and classifieds on Pelican.

Souk immediately posts how ridiculously high that estimate is and that I'm trying to jack up prices. My post, as it stands after Milts, is still in the post.

Souk and I go back and forth (BTW, judging from Souk's new posts, it looks like he copied and pasted the original posts, for posterity? I don't know) and then... Ubiquity0 posts a link to a few factory tails in Europe going for $2500 and $3100 respectively when converting euro to $.

Many more posts go back and forth, my take as noted by Noah is that this is a community and as altruistic as these board may seem, they are a major part of Wayne's marketing plan. If someone feels "taken" because they didn't know what they had, say a rare factory duck tail, they not only have negative feelings toward that person, they also have negative feelings toward Pelican. I'm not sure Wayne wants anyone at PCA meeting to have someone say he got ripped off by someone on Pelican. At that point, the someone is irrellevent, it's "ripped off" and Pelican that sticks. And yes, I believe, crazy as it may sound, that as a longtime member of a community of brothers all focused on Porsches, you do have a duty to each other. If it's not your thing, I understand.

I received some email, one was very good and it pointed out that if I had done this at a swap meet, I'd get beat-up. Actually, that's true, but this isn't a swap meet, or ebay, this is a community.

So in the end, we all had our say yesterday and parted ways.

Here's a bit of background. Quite some time ago someone was selling a 3.2 and asked for input on its value. It was a 100K or so motor, good running condition, etc. The market for these is $5K to $5.5K at the most and I posted as such.

Souk jumps in and says it's a $1500 motor, needs to be rebuilt, this and that. A tussle ensues, but it's done quickly. But from other posts, it's pretty clear Souk has a vendetta against for that. Not sure why exactly, we disagreed, we discussed, it was done. In fact, Souk was recently looking for a 915. You'll see my post trying to help him out.

URGENT WTB: Late (aluminum) 915 Gearbox.

I'm definitely not one to hold a grudge, especially over something so trivial as the value of a 3.2, and I definitely subscribe to the community aspect of Pelican.

Fastforward to my recent sale of my own 3.2 out of my 84. The motor had 241K on it, ran well, but was definitley a core in needing a rebuild.

I sold to someone who specifically was going to part it or rebuid it. Any guesses on the sale price? $3500 including good clutch all the way to muffler. Upon receipt and teardown, fellow member YTNUKLR was very happy with the motor.

OK, so really fast forward to today. I went home last night getting very little work done yesterfay, picked up some friends at the airport, went to dinner and it ended up a nice day.

Today I get into work to this thread, and more aspersions on the original thread.

What I want to know is what kind of person after an entire day wakes up and decides to post this stuff, keep the fight going that is, and really kept the fight going since the 3.2 debate. I feel that internalizing that much anger and then fueling it just isn't healthy.

What I also want to know is why Souk won't post details on all the people I've screwed over. I want to know. He keeps saying I screw people over, but there's no details. Then I see his paranoid post on me getting one of my buddies to discover the sortid details. This baffles me.

If anyone cares, I can post a list of all the stuff I've given away for free, shipping even at my expense, and to whom. I can also list everything I've ever sold so maybe someone can speak up themselves and say I screwed them. I'd like to hear it, really.

So, in conclusion, sit back everyone and enjoy the show. this should be interesting.

Shaun,

The guy selling the ducktail stated "best offer" Not "what do you think this is worth?"

My chiming in here makes about as much sense as you chiming in there regarding a transaction in which you were not involved other than to stir things up.

If I was an interested buyer and had a deal pending at XXX dollars, and someone shouts, "hey that is really worth YYY dollars and blew my pending deal--I would be pissed off too.

Just my .02 cents----wait! it is really worth .05 cents.

Eric, I agree with you in a different setting. If this guy had sold his ducktail for $500 and later found out it was worth much more, that would be a tragedy. My concern was for the seller who didn't know what he had, not buyers who do know what it's worth and unscrupulous ones who would use their knowledge at the seller's expense.

But in a broader sense, you are correct. I just think in this microcosm of Pelican I did the right thing, and Souk's responses (edited out) have comfirmed this.

Haggling is between seller and buyer only, others need not reply with their opinions. Based on the first post by the seller, he had asked for best offer, not "what do you think this is worth?".

I, too, am guilty of advising a seller that his asking price was a little low so he raised his price and then was unable to unload the product. Should've just kept my mouth shut.

For god's sake man, please post these or you'll lose credibility.

And I agree Souk, you've posted some great stuff in Technical. I can't match your engineering degree or R&D on all things 911.

My main contributions have sadly been the build on my track car, how I did it, what I used, directions I went, why, etc. and a few odds and ends here and there on work done on the 84, mainly the suspension.

I fear that when it comes to technical, I take more than I give.

Who really cares? Quit swinging your G9 purse at people and stop messing with the classifieds.

WTF?
If the seller sells it for $500, he's happy to get that money. If he finds out later he might of sold it for more, maybe he laughs or maybe he gives himself a dope slap. But he sold it and at the time was happy. If the buyer gets a good price, he's happy. If he's a parasite that's buying it to flip for profit, that sucks, but that's business. If he's buying to use, he's happy to get a desired part for his car at a good price. What's wrong with that?

If a potential buyer offers a low price and says that's what it's worth to him, well, the seller can agree to the price or can tell the buyer to pack sand. That's life, eh?

I just don't see any justification for the bull***** tactic you use Shaun to disrupt the free market. Maybe you were a friggin hall monitor when you were in school. Probably got pounded a lot for it, hence the fixation on little girls' lifestyles.

This is free entertainment! Souk, after all is said and done, thanks for your technical expertise. I have learned a great deal from you.

Jim, simply put, I can't imagine going through life this way. We're here to help each other, not try to get a great deal off each other. If you don't subscribe to that personal philosophy, OK, but I do and that's where I was coming from.

But geez guys, you are reeeally angry over this. In fact if Souk had not jumped all over my post saying how ridiculously high it was, which actually turns out to be low, this wouldn't be an issue.

Let's call a spade a spade. Souk was trying to get a very valuable tail for a fraction of its value. That's fine in a market setting or eBay, that's not fine in a community such as Pelican.

Since it's been thrown out in OT for all to see and comment on...

Shaun; you are just plain in the wrong. If you wanted to pony up $1500 for the part, you should have done so; otherwise MYOB. Additionally; if you felt the need to be price police, you could have easily done so via PM with the seller instead of the thinly veiled personal attack on Souk.

Some of you others; sophomoric name calling based on the products Shaun sells isn't very nice either.

Play nice

Later in the thread, the seller posted that if he was looking for absolute top dollar, he'd put it on eBay and that he'd like to sell it to a Pelican for fair value.

Did you consider that perhaps the seller got the part dirt cheap or even gratis and was trying to help a fellow Pelican by offering a part that might sell a bit cheaper than absolute value??

Shawn,

If you had done this at a swap meat here in Arizona you are correct, you would be in for a A$$ whupping. What was done is just not correct, no matter what your reasons.

Why you feel that you had to stick your nose in this is beyond me, other than to stir the brown material. Are you interested in buying the ducktail? If not then move on. If you and Souk want to have a "discussion" then do it alone. Had you really given a damm about Bruce and the value of the ducktail you could have simply PM'ed him and told him, not posted it to try to get back at Souk then held your hands up in the air saying "I was just trying to be the good guy" when in reality you were trying to be much worse.

Your real colors are coming out and its not good. Would be a nice time to take some time off the forums and try to rebuild your reputation on Pelican, if you can...
