Q? about mixing brake fluid and Clorox

Is it true mixing brake fluid and clorox causes a massive smoke cloud?

In my younger, rowdier days, we'd use Drano and aluminum foil.

Mix it with pool chlorine and see what happens.. (outside, in a well ventilated area)

Brake fluid and pool chlorine tables start a nice fire in a closed container (soda bottle)...

Lets not try for a Darwin award...

If it does start a smoke cloud... DO NOT INHALE ANY... it is supposed to produce chlorine gas, IIRC... which is deadly...

the chlorine is a great oxidizer, the brake fluid (DOT 1,2,3) are mineral oil based, DOT 5 is synthetic - it will generate lots of heat and most likely burn like heck.

Or you can always do a poor mans pipe bomb - get some di-chlor or tri-chlor tablets from your pool store, fill one end of the pipe with the tablets, stick a wad of cotton down it then pour in some pipe glue and cap. You may have a few minutes but the cotton acts as you time delay, long enough for the glue to seep into the tablets. The very long molecular chains rich in double bonds and nitrogen along with the solvents make for the stuff of vandal lore!

Then again, a skipped bullet into a propane tank that has been e-vented for 5+ seconds will produce a BLEVE - boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion. The first explosion is for kicks - produces heat to ignite the secondary explosion that will create a mushroom clowd! A poor mans A-bomb for sure. Ever see a tanker car full of propane go up? Heck of a sight.

Why the heck fly planes into a building when you can ignite Delaware, Southern New Jersey, Houston and Detroit?

Lube,

I would be real careful posting things like that. The guys in black from ATF might just want to stop by and have a chat with you...

good point...disregard previous instructions!

Thinking about it, there is such a thing as free speech, but then again you really don't want to yell fire in a crowded theatre either or tell someone how to make pure speed from scratch which is remarkably simple, you just take...

That's because it doesn't work on pig stomachs, which are tougher. Now a third-grader's stomach is a different story...

try brake shavings(from a lathe) and batt acid. add both in a steel can and run like hell unless you like the smell of pure sulpher. This old stink bomb gets used about once a year in the shop. great fun as long as you arn't the one looking for it under your tool box

Studies show that every single man, woman and child who ate even one tomato between 1800 and 1875 is dead.

nitric acid and 12 penny nails...

We should fight this war overseas! Talk about getting it done on the cheap.

But what about those that ate two or more?
