With respect to a N.O. situation. Family, water, food, ammo.

In non-emergency? I dunno... family and the p-car?

Right on! I was waiting for someone to mention the precious p-car! I might have to die of starvation and thirst, but I'll be doing it at 100 mph in the twisties!

Let's pretend the wife and kids are already safe and I'm home alone.

The p-car was what came to mind. Do I load up my big 4X4 pickup truck, which I could take or leave, or do I stuff one guitar, a blanket and some water and crackers into my white 1970 911E 3.0? I think I take the 911.

Guns, ammo, cash, water and some munchies.

Do we take the car that will do 140 mph, or the one that gets over 30mpg?

Laptops, important docs, hand charged flashlight & radio, water, pre-packaged foods (not dried). I'm seriously thinking of adding Messrs Smith & Wesson given all that's going on in NO. The wife goes in one car & I go in the Pcar right behind her.

ID, passport, money, credit cards.

Negatives (1 three-ring binder) and backup external HDD (photos).

My daughter's favorite doll, my son's favorite stuffed animal (very important for little kids, like photos for you and I)

And whatever clothes, emergency supplies, etc are appropriate for the situation and the means of travel.

I did this last summer with a stage 3 evac alert due to a wildfire burning close to my cabin in Leavenworth, WA. We had roughly 3 hours, ...... there's a LOT you can clean out in that amount of time...we had a ton of stuff stored at the cabin due to a remodel. We had 2 4x4's with 2 trailers, one open, one enclosed.

I packed 2 P cars full of stuff, rarest accessories and P car stuff that I had stored up there...the wife did the house. Drove the P cars into/onto the trailers.

Neighbor's son drove one of the 4x4's with a trailer out, my wife drove the other, I drove a 3rd P car out. We got dam near everything except for furniture and large electronics and kitchen type stuff... Saved all the heirloom type items, pictures, etc. etc.

Given one hour? Well I'd bet I could still get most of the stuff I mentioned above...would leave behind a lot...but know I could still get all the cars, and most of the rare P car items. The wife could easily get the pics, heirloom type items, hard drives, laptops etc.

Trust me....you "move" very quickly in these type of situations.

Events took a great turn for us the evening and following day of the evac, winds turned the other direction, and the firefighters got their arms around it.
