what advice should you have followed more closely?

it could be from anyone, nobody you remember in particular, someone you admire, dislike, find amusing, named tabs , or stumbled upon in a penthouse forum. it should be advice you have remembered because you continue to ignore, or have to repeat it to yourself to remain adhered.

it could be a product jingle that advised as to how to get your skivies cleanest, where you should get your film developed, which balm to use if your ******* itches or the like. so, i guess it's a line that is still with you for some devine, enlightening, symbolic, or possibly a prescription you should have lived your life by. mostly because it still is relevant and you insist on continuing to defy it, or only think of it when it's too late.

mine comes from my pops. thing is i have talked with him about it 25 years later and he does not even remember uttering the brilliant line that has help me so, or it could have. his line to me whilest hanging in the garage working on one of our dirtbikes, when i was no more than 9-10 and running my mouth was, "boy, (perfectly times pause so he was sure he had my attention) you will never learn anything with your mouth open". anyone who follows my exploits here, or is fortunate enough to have spent anytime with me prolly wonders why i did not heed pop's word more to a T. i too wonder often

so what is the piece of advise that you rememeber most, and it's gotta be one you recall because you rarley heed it.

thank you

right before my dad passed, he told me (i was 13) to just focus on being a good person. he said i will need to remind myself often, but if i stayed good, the rest would fall into place.

true enough, everytime i was a schithead, nothing good ever came out of it.

i miss that man.

Buy low, sell high!

To tell the truth I would recommend to anyone starting out to find a job or vocation that they love to do and go in that direction. Life is too short to spend it doing something you do not enjoy doing. Going to work for me is usually fun and when you get paid to have fun life sure improves a whole bunch.

Other than that I would say to spend time with your parents. Mine both passed away 12/13 years ago and once they are gone its a big gap in your life. Not a day goes buy that I want to ask them one thing or another...

One night in high school, my friend and I were heading out and my mom said "If you're gonna dip your wicks, make sure they're covered". Took me a bit by surprise.

"Don't let your ***** run your life" I would have had so much less trouble had I followed this advice earlier in life, but also so much less fun

"Just remember who you are and what you are." - Dad

I agree with Joe on spending time with your parents. My Dad just passed away this past April and I feel the same way. Not a day goes by that I don't have something come up I would like to discuss or show him.....my new house, the Miata I got running for a new daily driver, the 72 Targa that is almost ready, discussing 911 power for a Corvair, how to go about building that extra garage I want.........

Another quote I like:

"Don't be afraid of her. She's got a colon full of red meat just like you." - college buddy

Something I would have changed in my life was to live on less and eliminate debt, followed by a better savings and investing plan from a younger age. A few people tried to tell me, but I wouldn't listen. Stupid kid........I could be driving a paid for GT2.
