You people get all angry, but I haven't heard an argument proving him wrong. Just a bunch of baby-killers pigpiling on a republican who said publicly what their policies impact.

BTW if you guys had read the book he referenced the context would indeed make more sense to you. But, why pass up a chance to cry "racist!" (while scanning for the nearest minority to acknowledge this great act of yours to ease their plight), pathetic.

I think it is taken out of context - the fuller context just shows he was letting his mouth run. Stupidly, or at least ill-advisedly.
re: Abortion (which I might start by saying, I am totally against). - what if the person getting the abortion genuinely doesn't believe the foetus is a "baby" - are they killing a baby? - are those birth control pills which have a secondary (backup) effect of making it impossible for a fertilised egg to implant in the womb a form of abortion? - (edit) or the Morning After Pill (/edit) I mean, where is the line? It is dictated by conscience.

BTW, Tech, perhaps your income level would improve to past levels if you spent less time on line and more effort in pursuit of the almighty dollar. This post of yours is absurd.

Sad to watch someone self destructing like this... Especially when he is moaning about returning to his past level. If something like that happened to me I would be burning the midnight oil and pushing to make it happen, not crying on a car forum about something that he saw in a dream. JoeA

What does that have to do with those comments? The fact that he thinks such an act would be "reprehensible" does not qualify his statement. He talks about reducing the crime rate and the first ******* thing out of his mouth is to say that killing black babies would do it. Polish that turd all you like. C'mon you guys - that's a sick fuking thing to say - isn't it?

Not a word in defense of 'conservatism.'
Not a word of condemnation of Bennett's racism. Just attacking the messenger. The poverty of the argument from the 'right' speaks volumes.

And no they were not discussing ways to reduce crime at all. They were discussing abortion and reasons for/against it. Did you even read the transcript? He was warning the caller not to use statistical anomolies to rail against abortion. He then gives an absurd example (aborting black babies) to make his point. But in classic form the liberal m,sses all that and only hears a conservative mention a race and they're on it like stink on a democrat. Read this part again. "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down. So these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky ."

Len, give it up. This is textbook cognitive dissonance. I thought at least Techweenie being a marketing guy would have been too smart for this, but I was wrong.

So Len, you're saying that Bennet does not believe killing black babies would reduce the crime rate? He just made up a ficiticious, anomalous statistic to warn a caller not to use anomalous statistics to argue his position on abortion?
Strange stat to just fabricate out of thin air - on the air. No?

I do not have a PHD but do have three degrees (and alot of other licenses and certificates) and its not just memorizing anything. Its lots of hard work and by the time you get to this level you are either pretty sharp or the 1% that just got lucky. When you get to this level you have to be sharp. For my German long range pilots license all the instruction was in English. We were told that the test would be in English. When we got there the two Americans in the class were given the written test in German with no notice. We both passed and found out later that they did not want us to have the license because they felt that "we were not up to their standards"... Well, passing an exam for the most difficult license there is to get in my field IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE is not memorizing my friend. Joe A PS I did not stay in a holiday inn that night...
