Test for Engineers and Machinists or "Smart" People

Hello Everyone,

Here is a little test for anyone here whos is familur with "3 view drawings" The kind of blueprint you used to get when you were a machinist and you were to make a part.

Basically you get a "Top", "Front" and "Side" view of a part and from that you could make anything.

Here is a little refresher on the system.

"Solid Lines" are edges you can see in the view.

"Dashed Lines" are edges that are "internal" or "hidden" like a hole.

So here is your test. The following image is the "Front" AND the "Top" view of a part. Your job is to determine the "Side" view.

Remember the "rules" from above.

Good Luck!

I can't attach the drawing but it would be a rectange or a square with two dashed lines running parallel to one another at a distance equal to the size of the inner square. I'm guessing this is a square donut

There is no dashed lines in the "top" or "front" view, there may, or may not, be in the side you that you are to provide.

Flattbutt1, you are wrong, but your answer is normally the 1st response to this question.

nostatic, I really like you, but no luck on the Duck!

perhaps the little square is raised above the base square? Or is that the usual 2nd guess?

It would be a cube, with a smaller cube/square projection of undetermined length projecting from the top and left side when viewed in side view

I would guess that it would be a pyramid with the top cut off. Only way I know how to describe it. But how would one determine it's height?

I think the side view would be a "L" shape, laid on its side.

Yeah, its like BlueSky's example, but both verticle and horizontal lines are solid, and of equal length.

Side view would be a right triangle with another smaller one sticking out from the center, or in 3-d it would look like a square block cut in 1/2 along the diagonal with another 1/2 sized cut the same way place long sides together and centered.

It's late, I hope you can visualize my description; what do I win?
