Iran's president: Holocaust a myth, US and Isreal should be wiped out

The esteemed president of Iran, Mama Mahmoud, says the holocaust is a myth:

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/12/14/iran.israel/index.html

His previous remarks state that the US and Israel should be "wiped off the map".

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/10/26/ahmadinejad/index.html

He then has the nerve to claim that they want nuclear facilities for peaceful purposes. From what I understand, Russia and China are openly supplying him with the technology he needs to do this.

Who in their right mind could support this NUTBAG having nuclear capabilities? It's time to stand up to our supposed "friends" in the east to stop this nonsense.

Yea, all the usual suspects are gonna tell you that we are to blame because we were too "mean" to the Iranian regime, and that we can solve the problem by "reaching out". Once we find out what we did wrong, we can correct it. I know, maybe we can give them breeder reactors to help supply their energy needs...

No Allen. It's not that we're to mean. The problem is that by taking the actions we took, our military is stretched dangerously thin and our ally list is exceedingly short. In other words, we're no longer in a position to do anything about these nutbags. Thanks to Brave Sir Dubya.

If you were running a morbid and moribund theocracy and the folks next door were voting and living in relative freedom with a representative government in the making - you would be lashing out too.

Kind of like a crazed Persian Yosemite Sam. "Me,Me,Me!" he cries as the world media pays attention to him rather than the elections in Iraq. Crazy like a fox, maybe??

I wonder how long until Israel cleans up the neighborhood. A few days ago Drudge Report had some links to stories saying that strikes were coming in March. Sure would be nice to let Israel do the heavy lifting for us, but they'd have to fly over Iraqi airspace to do it, which will then be blamed on us. Iran is about 3x the size of Iraq and if Americans think Iraq was too big an undertaking, I wonder what it will take to convince folks that Iran is a winnable situation.

Just carpet bomb the whole country and walk away.

Well 930, the problem is that a very large number, if not a majority of Iranians, are very pro-America. It's a dicey situation. They all hate Israel, but they don't all hate us. Still, we'll get blamed for any attack on their nuke facilities. Best solution would be for their population to take their country back from the mullahs, but as with Pakistan and India, their atomic bomb project is a symbol of national pride.

Too bad we don't have nearly enough bombs in the inventory to do any kind of carpet bombing.

They don't all hate Israel.

Then entrenched theocracy does.

Very different.

Couldn't we just level Iran on our way to take over Saudi Arabia?

I find it hard to believe that a majority of Iranians like us American's. As cultures go, we're about as different as they come. Just about everything we Americans do is counter to what their religion teaches and therefore considered evil by these people.

No 930, everything we do is counter to what their mullahs (who run the country) like. The people there have just as much desire for our western lifestyle and pop culture as we do. Over 60% of their population is under the age of 25. You can't possibly have that kind of demographics and think they're all gonna be radical jihadists, regardless of what the official gubmint line is.

Hey, I'm as militant pro-American as they come and have no qualms at all about taking out enemies of freedom. But I think we have a potentially huge, though quiet, ally in the normal Iranian population.

At the height of Baywatch in the US, there were numerous articles about Iranians putting up illegal satellite dishes so they could watch Baywatch as well. Rick is right, the average Iranian likes the US, it's the government that is the problem.

What I always wonder, why don't you ever see these people rise up against their oppressive regimes? Revolution is at the basis of most solid governments, by the people, for the people don't ya know. If the people would refuse to put up with the constant oppression and terrorism, we might actually be able to make a difference. The same thing goes with Iraq, we're fighting harder for their freedom than they are, it's as if they just don't care. Or maybe it's just too many years of brainwashing and domination.

Sticks and carrots, Matt. The Iranian gov't. makes the gas prices there a few cents per gallon and most other countries do business with them. The US and Israel are the only ones who don't. Even oppressive regimes take steps to keep ahead of the people's frustrations. This is especially evident in China, which is also a very oppressive regime. But they've given folks just enough of a taste of prosperity that folks put making money FAR ahead of being able to vote or have a free press. Ditto for Iran. The gubmint leaves people alone to do what they want in their houses. They don't round up satellite dishes and they don't even enfoce a lot of their "morality" laws anymore. Alcohol is readily available and singles can date without too much hassle. The gubmint just doesn't let it go too far.

Or maybe they don't have the same definition of 'freedom' as we do.

Still squeezing lemonade into lemons I see...Iraq is the most effective staging ground for a long festering worldwide terrorist problem...We are precisely where we should be.

Our military is not "stretched dangerously (booooooo) thin."

So, what was Sandy Berger shoving down his undershorts?...something incriminating about GW and Karl Rove, surely.

WTF? Iran had a democratic election and this is who won.

Same thing is going to happen in Iraq.

I don't know that a few reports of Iranians putting illegal dishes on their roof is the tell tell sign that the majority of them like Americans. I'm sure the insurgents in Iraq have a Coke every now and then. When they found Saddam in his hole didn't he have butterfingers, or some other American food (or junk food) with him?

When the Iranian's (or Iraqi's) stand up and fight for the way of life they prefer - kinda like our country did in the Revolutionary war - I'll be impressed and agree with the notion that most don't accept the current regime. But until that day I'm very skeptical.

930, most Americans today wouldn't stand up and fight for the same reasons our founding fathers fought the Revolution.

Tech, Iran's previous president, Khatami, was a pretty popular guy and very moderate toward the west. But he couldn't deliver on his promises because the mullahs are who really run the show. Khatami got reelected and that was it. Their current nut job is probably the lesser of two evils, since his opponent was Rafsanjani, the guy they had before Khatami. His rants about Israel and US were no less insane. At least we can take comfort in the fact that their president wields no real power.

Just read his Bio. that is one crazy Bit@@. I too think it will be Israel that will take care of it in the end. We and others will talk, have meetings, offer incentives if they behave. blah, and more blah,blah.. Israel will just say enough of this sh@@, everyone will be upset till monday, oh another Wookie needs saving or, hurricane coming to-wards NO..gas may go to$3.80 for a few weeks..but in the end...move along nothing to see here but embers ...
Rick most likely is right..so it will be a surgical strike. still messy, but it will happen .They will not / cannot allow Iran to become Nuclear.
