Agreed that its not a common occurence, but there were two attacks on the WTC(the first didn't claim more than a couple of lives), the attack on the Pentagon, and the Oklahoma City bombing. So those are four major ones. Of course there was the olympic bomber as well. And I don't know how many letter bombs were laid by the Unabomber. Again not as common as the ME but they were significant IMO.

As soon as you are finished please do not forget Prez Johnson (one of yours remember) for diving in the retirement fund to finance the Vietnam war.

Were it not for his actions the social security fund would be full to overflowing from the baby boomer contributions.

I believe jkarolyi missed his calling as an incendiary radio talk show host. He would definitely keep the call lights lit-up.

Since I don't like to engage in the "I'm right," "No, I'm right" debates, I would turn the dial to classic rock, just like I'm going to the next thread.

But before I do, I need to extend a BIG thanks to NOSTATIC for keeping America free from the legions of evil-doers. Keep up the good work, and you will definitely get my vote if you ever run for Master of the Universe. ;-)

party line?

With all seriousness, I dont affiliate myself with political parties, if thats what you mean. I find that both parties have things i agree with, yet i also think that both parties are equally corrupt. I find it silly to box myself in as either.

If you are referring to my previous posts regarding political issues, my disaproval of Bush is not based on his political affiliation, rather his abysmal performance.

Hey, Cool_Chick!! Look!! It's just another isolated incident of a liberal using racism against a Black conservative!!

Wow, I never thought I'd see THAT again!

You may now place your head back in the sand.

So the resident liberals here think that nobody ever tries to carry out terrorist attacks here and that "word of mouth" thwarts the few that are planned. All the terrorists are out frollicking in the daisies in the middle east without the slightest notion of attacking the US. Take another puff on your doobie.

My post was a creative way of giving credit to the people who work hard to protect our country from terrorist attacks. Go to aljazeera.com and read some of the "death to America" venom spewed forth every day and tell me that there would not be terrorist attacks MUCH more often were it not for the hard work of the CIA, homeland security, and the powers given them by the patriot act.

Too bad the liberals here think this matter is "funny" and can't give credit where it's due.

Used to do just that at my college radio station. I got banned for my right-of-center views. Funny how the far-far-left talk show host got to keep his show. Used to talk about nationalizing all major corporations and having planned economies. Free speech only works one way on college campuses these days.

>Ever hear of a band called Laibach?

No, but I heard of a car called a Maybach. Talk about a "pretty damn stupid post". You haven't really contributed anything of value to this thread, and couldn't respond to Randy's post pointing out the contradiction of "Bush causes more terrorist attacks" and "nobody wants to attack America". Back to your doobie, brother. (now THAT's a band!)

If one was concerned about significant threats, they'd be concerned about things like gun deaths, medical malpractice deaths, automobile deaths, etc......

These things are much more likely to affect you....

Yet some people, in their small towns of 500 people or less, worry about something that you have a better chance of hitting the lottery.

To me, it's hysteria.

Be careful, sure, I agree, but to be irrational? I have a much, much better chance of being hurt walking home from work.

This reminds me of those people who have that phobia and can't leave their homes.

Excellent point. I guess the "War on Automobile Deaths" just doesn't have the same ring to it. People don't seem to care that thousands of people die every year due to cigarette smoking, but heaven forbid some idiot tries to light his shoes on fire on an airplane.

It's kinda like AIDS. My lifestyle puts my risks of contracting AIDS at essentially zero, so I don't life in fear on a daily basis that I am going to die of AIDS... I probably have a greater chance of dying of cancer from cigarette smoking than I do of dying in a terrorist attack. And I don't even smoke...

I don't think Islamofascists (or whatever the neat name for them is these days) are really going to attack the US and kill all of us infidels. I don't think they could pull it off. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think the hysteria fuels agendas which keep people in power.

For this we have to commend Bush, the Republican majority congress, the Patriot Act, and the department of Homeland Security for a job well done! Kudos for keeping terrorist bastards out of our country and preserving our way of life.
So lets assume Bush and the Republican congress have been the people that have prevented all terrorist attacks since 9/11 from occurring.

Lets also assume blaming Bush and the Republican congress (in since 1994) for 9/11 would be unjust. I mean Bush had only been in office for a 8 months (congress 8 years)

So who gets the blame for the next attack when it occurs before Bush vacates the office or when the next guy is only in office for a short time....... Better hope a democrat wins in '08 otherwise it gets real tough to blame those liberals

If the Bush administration takes the blame for allowing 9/11 to happen, they can have all the credit for 4 years without another significant attack on US soil.

But IIRC, the number of terrorist attacks worldwide have been constantly on the rise since 9/11.
