Just out of curiosity, what kind of whoops will you have to jump through in order to get a CCW in our great state of CA? Does one have to prove that they are at risk, carry large sums of money, work in dangerous areas, etc...?

Art, I'd love to go to the range with you and your brothers. Give me a e-mail, and we will make it happen.

I heard about that too. A friend of mine who "signed" me up up for the NRA sent me that article. If I remember correctly, the autopsy revealed the first two shots technically killed him as they were placed in the heart and lung. The second shot entered underneath the armpit and blew his lung out!!! However, it took another twenty-plus shots to take him down from behind his car. Again, if I remember correctly, the autopsy revealed he wasn' on ANY drugs! Amazing what the body is capable doing under stress.

Occasionally, my old military buddies send me articles of this type.

I wish there was a video of this incident so I could see it for myself...

The best source of information on CCW is:

www.packing.org

click on the state ccw info:

http://www.packing.org/state/

California is a county by county. The CCWs are issued by the sherriffs. In the Los Angeles area, LA County and Riverside are are some of the hardest to get CCW permit. However, Orange County, it is one of the most straight forward. The Eastern and Far Northern counties are also 'shall issue', which means they will issue to anyone who applies and meets the criteria (Training Course, Background check). There is no 'need' requirement.

All of the SF Bay area counties are very difficult too. The police chief in incorporated cities can issue as well. Fremont, where I lived, had 3 CCW's out of a population of 200,000+. Shasta county, Redding area, has several thousand out of a population of 170,000 or so.
