Why is the center of the earth magma?

I've read that the magma along with the moon and the oceans helps to create a cycle of oxygen and rain fall replenishment.

Let's see...as the plates move heat is creratet within the mantle and below to the core. Gas is released from existing pockets, created by the chemechanical process and vented along with the liquid magma.

One geophysicist, J. Marvin Herndon, has proposed the heat is a byproduct of radioactive decay in the mantle or core. In other words, the core is a big fission reactor. I suppose this is possible as the heavier elements would have 'settled to the bottom' as the earth was in formation.

I read recently that the Earth's core is not rotating at the same rate as the Earth (don't remember if it is slower or faster). I thought that was interesting.

Recent seismological studies have led some scientists to conclude that Earth's solid inner core rotates in the same direction as does Earth and slightly faster, completing its once-a-day rotation about two-thirds of a second faster than the entire Earth. Although this sounds like a small difference, it would mean that over the past 100 years the core has gained a quarter-turn on the planet as a whole. Such motion is remarkably speedy for geological processes, and would be about 100,000 times faster than the drift of the continents. Further studies could yield insights into heat flow and turbulence within Earth and the internal "dynamo" thought to be responsible for generation of Earth's magnetic field.
