Sometimes people are simply guilty and the word "alleged" will be used as an out for those who still believe there has been a mistake. In this case, had the individual belonged to the "other side" the posters defending Lay would AUTOMATICALLY claim he or she was guilty, no "alleged" about it.

It all depends on whose ox is getting gored. It is partisanship. It is a fact of life. Politics, like religion, is based on emotion, not logic. Posted facts generally are not, they are someone's opinions, taken as truth.

This situation will shake itself out and there will be a decision. Whatever it is, not one word we type here will change the outcome.

Can ANYONE say with certainty that there are not others in Congress that are also playing fast and loose with the law? Can ANYONE show that these are necessarily in one party or the other? Can they all be ignorant of what their staff is doing in their behalf or under their umbrella?

Racism is a bigger issue, especially intentionally fomenting it, exploiting divisiveness for political gain...ripping the country apart and dividing Americans around racial lines.

Given the Democrat party regularly surpass the allegations about Delay, in true campaign finance crimes, your argument about Delay and "corruption" is hollow.

There are 2 major differences between Delay's crimes and a myriad of Democrat crimes:

1. Delay's crimes, if true, were less than Democrat crimes.
2. The reason Delay gets the magnifying glass is because the Democrats rule the media.

Now DeLay has decided to take a baseball bat to the prosecutor's knees, rather than, god forbid, win the case at trial. What a slimeball.

He was confident that the judge would dismiss the charges. Nope. Now instead of doing what everybody else does, prove you are right at trial, he is trying to make an end run around the case.

Rodeo, surely you know some other Ronnie Earle's other capers. The guy has more baggage than an airplane. DeLay is spot on here and he ain't the only one Earle has gone after just for the political mileage.
