I won't watch it now just because you guys made it sound like a political satire.

I hope its not a shocker that anyone in Hollywood is a misguided, uneducated fool. But money seems to equal intellect over there. And yes, I know Natilie Portman went to college. But she didn't exactly study rocket science.

The world will be a better place when actors and atheletes make $50k a year.

Still, both actors and athlete's earn an honest living, unlike any politician who are no more than leeches on the public body.

pat does allude to a very interesting point:

Why is it that career politicians can say and do what they do but when a professional anything else tries it, so many say they have no business stating their views publicly?

Isn't this some sort of double standard? What disqualifies an actor os athelete from making a (political) statement? Just the fact that we disagree with him or her?

'Tis a puzzlement....

Not really. You won't see the usual crybabies whining about conservative actors.

moneyguy, it's simple...

If a politician says or does something stupid, people choose not to vote for them.

If an actor says or does something stupid, people choose not to spend their money watching their movies.

There's no censorship... they can say whatever they want, but they should expect people to vote with their wallets.

-----

I won't see this movie because it doesn't look interesting, and I've walked out of too many movies recently. It's just a bad movie season, to me at least.

I think we all have to be very careful of the secret messages in comic books and comic book heroes.

I thought it was good commentary on the slippery slope of trying to balance "security" with "Civil liberties" and "Freedom."

Interesting commentary and a generally entertaining movie. My wife and Sister who I saw it with enjoyed it as well and it caused me to question: "Are we as free as we were 20 years ago?"

Are we?

Didn't get much interest form me... seems like an old formula for a movie...
Unsurmountable evil beating down the the little guy...
In the end little good guy miraculously overcomes unsurmountable evil.

Star Wars?
Matrix?
Lord of the Rings?

bryant..

Good points but if true, why do so many policians who say stupid things continue to get re-elected? Is it because what they say is only stupid to those outside their district or state (or party)? The Senator from Alaska comes to mind....

And as far as actors and atheletes "speaking their minds"..Seems as if people still buy tickets, as if they can separate the person's screen or athletic skills from their outside views.

Let's see, a quick mouse click to IMDB reveals that:

She has been working non-stop as an actor since age 12 including multiple theatre festivals and starring roles on Broadway + 22 films and still managed to get accepted to Harvard University, where she graduated in 2003 w/ a degree in psychology, (takes discipline to study that hard in a trailer between shots, she must be brilliant), plans on ditching her acting career and 8-figure annual income to become a doctor.

And you, assclown?

There is a huge difference.

Athletes and movie stars don't send men with guns after you if you don't do as they say. Athletes and movie stars don't send young men to foreign lands to kill people and be killed themselves.

Athletes and movie stars are an overall good, politicians are an overall bad.

I went to the noon showing of VfV, it was stunning. Definitely should be viewed on the big screen dolby sound.

EDIT: Almost forgot, also says that she speaks 5 languages fluently including Hebrew, plus passable Spanish. A moron, obviously.

So much Hollywood schlock. I mean, this is the guys who made the Matrix fantasy movies..

Our current political climate is more like the frog being slowly boiled. Local school boards hiking taxes endlessly, public pensions and benifits that need to be paid for, endless government borrowing. Liability laws and insurance and lawsuits. Cops that act as revenue collectors or out of boredom.

As the Chinese say - "Heaven is very high, and the Emperor is far away." 99% of politics is local, but 99% of the complaints are national...
