Saw A *NEW* FJ Toyota Last Night - WOW!
I know this has been discussed on here at length but...
I saw the new FJ yesterday I was behind it in traffic coming home and really liked it....I am not a SUV guy...but really liked the lines and overall size of it...I wonder if it is just the "flavor of the month" and the novelty will wear off but compared to say an H3, it is definitely a great looking vehicle with great presence. Way to go Toyota! I am sure they will sell well. ![]() My dad had this: ![]() and briefly one of these: ![]() so these trucks will always have a special place for me! Yasin

While I agree they're interesting, it is another example of the lack of creativity in today's automotive designers. Another retro that will be hot for 6 months and then fizzle out.
The taillights on this thing are horrid - you gotta see them from the back! Ug!

I never even heard of it until I saw my first one a couple of days ago. Actually I saw 3 the same day! Reminded me of the Honda Element. Oh how I hate the Honda Element.

We are making the TRd exhaust for that truck here at bosal....Toyota is forecasting 100k units already, heck they are oreding 2000 Trd exhaust a week!!!! Awesome truck, so much more appealing to me than a Hummer

I'm pretty positive that if I put a Hummer badge on it, people would be calling it a POS. It's like Toyota tried to combine the weirdest styling cues on it. Foot-long C-pillars go great with industrial silver tractor-trailer mirrors.
![]() I dislike both Hummers and this abomination, BTW. When I needs a real 4x4, I'll go H1, old Land Cruiser, or Jeep Rubicon. I was also impressed with a friend's lifted '89 Range Rover. |

IMHO, the only reason they made the Scion xB was to make the Element look good. ![]() -Z. PS: Toyo FJ - cool lookin' SUV. ![]()

Funny rusty, my mom use to have the exact Land Cruiser Station wagon above, but she had the big deer killing grill on it. What year was the white FJ40? I have red 74 sitting in my driveway as we speak.

have been really looking at the new FJ and the H3. If you need a truly off road SUV the H3 is it, and the FJ is close behind. (The Rubicon is not an SUV) I need some space behind the rear seats for the dog. As soon as the “PT Cruiser effect” wears off and you can find them for sticker I plan on getting serious.

The last great 4x4 (Ihate to call it an SUV) , died with the '96 Ford Bronco.

That thing is so ugly it's cool.
Unfortunately, cool wears off and ugly does not. |

Saw one a couple weeks ago (in that blue color) on Terminal Island (near the Port of Long Beach), probably one being tested in the U.S. I was intrigued mostly by the color and cause I hadn't seen one before but honestly once I got a look at it, I thought it was boring.
Another friggin' SUV to put on roadways that already have 100000000000X as many SUVs as they need. Who cares.

Blah. I love the old ones, but these are fugly. Maybe if I really went off-road, but what percentage of SUV buyers actually use them off road? I know the only time our 4Runner has been is when I snuck it away from my wife and had some fun on my in-laws 40 acres. Had some fun on steep hills and crossing streams, but I got yelled at when I got back.

The FJ by and far was one of the coolest vehicles at the LA Auto Show. And it's resonably inexpensive.
Old Toyota 4x4s are just too cool. So are old Int'l Harvester Scouts and Travelers. I wish someone would put out a retro Int'l Harvester 4x4.
