I agree. It's my favorite bar none. However, my "daily driver" is the 15 yr Balvenie. It's damn near as good at half the price.

The smoky alternative-Lagavulin.

1. Red Breast Irish pot still whiskey
2. Rebel Yell Sour Mash Bourbon

Red Brest is about $44 a bottle, but the Rebel Yell is only about $14

Ardbeg Lord of The Isles, 25 yr. A bit pricey though.

(I don't consume whisky that much so I shouldn't try to give advice. When I decided to purchase some I asked my friend the whisky lover for advice and that was his "911" of whisky's).

Yeah, its a perfect time for whiskey in Michigan right now. Wet, cold, dark, with no end it sight. I say drink your worries away. You know what also works on days like that? Mead. Warm it up nice and hot with some cinnamon and you won't need to wear a coat for the rest of day.

You just reminded me, not a bottled booze, but really good during a cold spell.

Buy a 50 oz. bottle of Martinelli's apple juice, it's not hard, but there's more. Martinelli's sells a realy good mulling spice in a tea bag like package, you drop six of those in a bottle of juice you've put into a sauce pan.

Bring it to a slow boil, and remove the heat. Add to that, Mount Gay (no comments now) Barbados rum to taste. Barbadian rum has a hint of brown sugar taste to it, and it's much nicer than any from Puerto Rico. It's the most like rum used to be in the 18th century, explaining it's early popularity.

Drink until no longer cold.

Another, I have aquired a taste for is Sailor Jerrys spiced rum.

Have to agree with Pat. Barbadian rum and Jamaican rum is much better, than PR rum.
