FFS - so now I'm reading that Murtha's purple hearts are in question... I think I'm going to head all that crap off by saying that I think he was a purple heart grubbing, glory seeking, Vietnam volunteer (surely an oxymoron), but let's run with it.

What's the point of this thread? Murtha uses situation with Marines for political gain? He makes comments asserting guilt, without proof, that could be considered unfair. Some people - clearly those without dictionaries - call it traitorous.

Compare and contrast if you will to two comments about the recent suicides at Guantanamo Bay of three people who have been accused of terrorism - but not charged - and are being held for an undefined and potentially indefinite period of time:

No, if they were Prisoners of War, the Geneva Cinventions would apply. The hitherto unbeknown designation of "illegal combatant" has been fabricated for the inmates of Cuba. This is a complete fiction designed to take those people out of the prtections of both the Conventions and US law and is morally repugnant.

And I stand to corrected here, but that this is fiction has been upheld by US courts.

When a man or woman is defending his land, he may use any tactic he wishes to use.

However, we're talking about the requirement that the US government obey the law, which applies whether or not the so-called "enemy" obeys the law.

That's the same thing your mother should have told you when you tried the excuse, "Well Jimmy did it first", and your mother told you, "I only care what you did, not what Jimmy did first."

The US government must obey the law at all times and places, no exceptions.

I think I would have been pissed off too...In fact, I am and I didn't even serve...John Kerry is and was a traitor. He was instrumental in turning the American public against or soldiers and he inspired scumbag lefties to spit in the face of homecoming soldiers upon their return from Vietnam.
