I'm really looking forward to seeing it but I hate lines. We saw The DaVinci Code this weekend and the lines for P2 were nuts. But I can wait awhile.

Besides, I spent a little time in the Navy paying homage to Davy and his bunch.

Maybe I'm a CSOB, but I don't go see movies. I rent them and watch on my big screen and surround sound. i can't see paying close to $12 to sit and watch a movie when I can rent it for $1.75

And why do people kill themselves to see a movie the first day it comes out?
does it go bad if you don't see it right away?
My guess is that it somehow makes you cool if you have seen it and your friends haven't.
That kinda cool I aint.

Exactly the way I feel. I can't stand lines, crowds or paying for anything at a movie theater. I'd feel less robbed if they used a gun on me. I have a 52" tv with surround sound at home. I can hit pause to refill my bourbon, hit the head, grab a smoke, eat whatever I want and not hear ANY other inconsiderate idiots on their cell phones or talking loudly. If I'm super bored on a Sunday, I might go see a matinee if the lady really twists my arm. Nothing I've ever spent on my Porsches has felt as much a ripoff as a $12 movie ticket.

I am not that old and feel the same way, so I am just a curmudgeon then?

What is it, the people talking on their cell phones, smacking their popcorn, letting their kids holler and misbehave?

I worked in a theater in HS, saw everything that came out, loved it. In the 20 years since then, I have seen perhaps a half dozen movies in a theater, probably less.

For me it is the exhorbitant expense, dealing with mobs of inconsiderate folks and knowing that one of the best places to break into a car is at a movie theater. They watch you go in, and know they have an hour or two to poke around in your car.

My wife did not care for the first one much, and she is a huge Johnny Depp fan, or was until she heard what he had to say about America and Americans

Oh the beauty of living in a small town.

Walk up, no line, $4.00 matinee, sit down family of 4 $16.00, 1/3 full theater of well behaved kids and adults.

Sore point in my end of the biz. I'm management and not Union, so no credits. 2) Also, each production company is its own corporation with its own employees. I work for Disney corporate, so I'm not an employee of the production. For example, this week I'm on "Gone, Baby, Gone" in Boston, and "Underdog" in Providence, R.I.

The other "water safety" guys are actually lifeguards.

LOL, like Larry the cable guy said, "I use to be a lifeguard until some blue kid got me fired...
Now that's funny right there, i don't care who ya are. If ya don't like that you can just get the hell out of here"

Sorry. I kinda got sidetracked.

I am in a little town called Sylva North Carolina...There is a 3 plex up the street. We drove past to check the movie times, 2-5 and 8. That is it.
WOW!!! Life in the big city! We have a "two-plex" theater in our town. It was built in the '30s. (We call the decor "arrogantly shabby", but it's really just shabby.) It's a two-plex because it has two showings. One movie at 7, and the other movie at 9.

The odd thing is... we like it much better than the 32-screen theater we'd go to when we lived in Plantation Fl. for several years.

I cannot tell you if I like the smaller theater yet. I have not been able to get into it.

The theater in my town in Florida (Jensen Beach) is in a small town and overkill for the town. Since the big town to the North of us got a huge new theater ours has been relatively quiet. I have gotten spoiled being able to take the kids to a 1/2 empty theater on opening weekend.

Well, we know what your involvement was...I still brag to the family about knowing you

BTW, I wont fight the crowds either. However, we do the twilight shows for 5-6 bucks each and in this case a 1/3 full theatre. definitly worth it.

If you ever find yourself in LA let me know, I'll give you a private tour of the Disney Lot. Its not as exciting as you might think, but I'd be glad to. I've given several private tours to other Pelicans.

Hugh - don't know if the offer extends this way but one of these days I would love to see the backlot. I have only been once for a Boy Meets World filming but I think thats ABC, same lot maybe.

Of course it does! Let me know when you'll be in the Burbank area. I'm in Boston and Providence, R.I. this week, but back in town for a least a month starting Monday. ABC lot is now called the Prospect Studios. We have Grey's Anatomy and General Hospital there along with a Fox production, The Shield. The Disney lot in Burbank is where we're doing some Piirates 3 work and a couple of 1 hour dramas that are new for this season.

hahaha!!

i feel the same way ab. the movie experience... hate the crowd, the smell of greasy butter/popcorn, twizzler wrapper noise.... french fries smellin' up the joint (esp. when you're hungry), etc etc...

have a great setup at home so there's no way i'm going to the theatre. last time i made an exception it was for the star wars finale.

i don't care if i'm not 'on top of it'. i'm six months behind on every film but whenever it comes out on video, it's a new release to me. can't beat a nice drink and some other vices while watching on your own couch

We wait for most movies but some absolutely have to be seen on the big screen. No HT setup could have filled the universe with speeding saltbed the way the silver screen did in World's Fastest Indian.
