Wa saw the movie Friday night. The wife and kids enjoyed it, but I found it "excessive" and the "plot" was so confusing it lost me early in the movie. The special effects were incredible, but I'd also like a story with my Special FX, that's just me...

I noticed that the tall, thin "pirate" whose eye keeps falling out is the character "Gareth" from the British version of "The Office". Very good actor!

I thought the movie was good, it was entertaining, thats what i go see a movie for. I don't expect every movie i see to be life changing.
Jim, All of the movieplex's were sold out a few hrs before for POTC2. We had to buy tickets like 2 hrs early. We went to Rave in SLW, buddy of mine went to the mall to see it, and it was the same story. On a side note, i just closed on selling my house, and your company was the one who did the surveying(last wed if i remember) |

I saw it last night.
Went to the 10:10 showing, it let out at 12:40. I thought the movie was okay. Because it leads so heavily into the next movie, I'm kind of withholding judgement until the next movie. On the one hand, I'm glad that they didn't rush through scenes for the sake of making a nice, neat movie. On the other hand, it was damn long.

Saw it today, and I got what I wanted, entertainment. I caught myself staring at the crew to see all the little details. I'm excited about part 3; I would like to know where they are going with the story line.
When I was in HS my friends and I were all about seeing movies on opening weekend; I assume that hasn't changed with kids these many years later. I could care less about seeing things on opening day and the more I tweak/upgrade my home theater the less tolerant I am of poorly run theaters and the people that populate them.

I saw it Friday night, the 10:30 showing, let out close to 1:00am with all the previews. I really liked the movie but really want to know what's going to happen next. I think this is the first movie that I remember in a while that leads to a sequel besides Back to the Future. By the way, how did Barbosa come back to life?

Comparing action/blockbuster to action/blockbuster, "Pirates" was so much better than "Superman Returns."

Saw it over the weekend too. I thought it was VERY entertaining. A couple of nagging plot points, do not read further if you have not seen the movie...
One thing was the monkey, why did it still have the curse? The other was the suprise at the very end, I thought he was dead? Special effects were outstanding. The plot line was great and was a little drawn out but definaty took you somewhere as a new adventure unfolded. Depp really wraps himself around his character and puts a smile on my face every time he speaks. Great job. Looking foward to the 3rd installment.

Saw it this weekend. I thought there was about 1 Kraken attack too many. They could have edited it a bit more aggressively and gotten it down to 2 hours or so. The never ending swordfight on the waterwheel comes to mind.
Overall I liked the film, the special effects were great and Depp does a good job as he did in the first film. I especially liked the way Will's father's face got more and more sea creatures on it through the movie. We saw a matinee and it was definitely worth $6. I'll go see Pirates 3 when it comes out.

Saw it Friday night and agree with most of the common comments about length, etc.
There were several young children at the theater. I can't believe people would bring a four year old (or even a seven year old) to the film. There were a lot of scary images that a young mind can't comprehend. I think it's wrong. E |

If the monkey stole one of the coins, wouldn't that explain the guy-who-showed-up-at-the-end-who-should-have-been-dead? Hmmmmmm.........

I even have it on DVD and never watched to the end of the credits. Thanks for that info. I guess you cannot tell us anything about why whats his face shows up at the end. Or I mean how he is alive when we assume he is dead. Its all fun though and a fun fantasy. This last move has me wanting to read up on Davie Jones stories. I have a good friend who is a diver. He is obsessed with shipwrecks and finding them off the coast of Florida. He has found some interesting stuff right off the beaches here where we live. He constantly is reading old books and stories any info he can gather as to what sunk where. He found a huge anchor off our coast that probably dates back to the 1800's. His house is full of things he has found. He loves these movies they are a lot of fun. The fantasy and the story line is very entertaining.
