I'd love to have a 5 window chopped coupe, flathead power. My generation as well. I just love looking at 'em. A 250 pound fat old guy standing 6'3" with 36" inseam legs just doesn't fit. Sherwood, that's one very impressive and eclectic garage!

Paul,
I must say this guys garage blew my mind when we walked in. I estimate he has around 2000 sq. ft of space; maybe more. The living space is upstairs. I didn't see it, but it's smaller. Here's another. I spoke to my Dad, it's a v16 Nash motor's distributer,
He said that it's fricken rare. it allows two plugs per cylinder

Hi Jim,
Thanks for solving one of the mystery questions. The combustion chamber in a flathead engine is L-shaped, notoriously prone to detonation due to its length. I imagine a twin-plug head would be just the ticket to unleash some more power. Is the bottom end up to it? Sherwood |

Only a guess, but the scooter looks vintage Lambretta to me. If so, it's the engine that took friend Stan Mott around the planet...powering a go kart, back in the 60's. (edit)...yep, that's a far cry from my garage. Filled with junque, yard tools, whatever...oh, and only one toy car. Oh well, there's always the lottery fantasy, right?

The cranks seem to be up to it and from what I rember the block will be fine
the rod's are pretty well built for their time, but long the "L" head's problem is it swings to much weight to rev high and it's ports suck ! oh and they run HOT I rember seeing 4th exhaust ports on modified flat motors that had been cut out of a heat riser area coming up and near the intake manifold. side note, as a kid I've carried 428 ford cranks 302 cranks flatmotor cranks and others to my dad while he was building motors the first porsche crank that I saw looked like a toy to me! their "cute"
