You can still get Bazooka Joe... I pick up a few at my Barbers every cut...

Pixie sticks rock... Expecially those HUGE ones, what like 1/2" in diameter and 2 feet long? Remember the crappy bubble gum that came in baseball cards?

how about the candy buttons that came stuck on adding machine paper, or the sky bar. or mary janes, or the sugary syrup that came in little wax bottles like a pack of soda pop, bite off the top and suck out the syrup. then chew up the wax . oh, wax lips and vampire fangs.
i remember that on halloween i would do some kind of ghoul or monster makeup, then cover it all up in gauze bandages like a mummy, go around to all the houses and then unwrap the mummy and go around again in the makeup. what we wouldn't do for candy. i am surprised that i still have all my own teeth.

Lik-m-aid had the white stick. I also liked chick-o-stix, cup o' golds, those big sweet tarts that made your tongue bloody, bottle caps and bubs daddy gum. I also had a cousin who showed me the trick of pouring a pixie stick down into black licorice. Talk about a wierd taste sensation..

Thanks for the memory Bill. Brought back memories of the old neighborhood "store"...a remodeled old house, small...the place mom sent me to with a quarter to buy a loaf of bread...if a penny was left over, I could have a piece of double bubble...

anyone remember flavor straws, as you sipped up white milk it became chocolate , strawberry, or coffee flavored as it passed through the straw? or how about fizzies, soda flavored tablets that would dissolve in a glass of water like an alka-seltzer[remember speedy?] i put them in the gym showerheads back in junior high school. everybody came out a light shade of grape purple that day.

When we were kids we had these things called Lolas. They were like a triangular shaped popsicle without the stick. They came in a foil container so as they melted we wouldn't wear to much of it. I think they cost a dime. They re-introduced them a couple of years ago and are in a couple of retro candy stores.
